Japanese Shoho aircraft carrier anchored in Yokosuka

The Japanese ship “Shoho” anchored in Yokosuka shortly after the restructuring to the aircraft carrier. At first it was a high-speed tanker Tsurugizaki, on January 15, 1939, it was rebuilt to the submarine’s floating base (without changing its name), and on January 26, 1942, it was rebuilt to an aircraft carrier.

The Shoho aircraft carrier was killed in battle in the Coral Sea on May 7, 1942, when more than 90 aircraft from American aircraft carriers “Yorktown” and “Lexington” dealt an air strike. 15 minutes after the start of the attack, Shoho carrier sank.
