The Practical Yoga Meditation
The experience of practical spiritual rebirth is something different from what many yoga blogs or articles preach these days. Manifold stuff is available on the internet with theoretical knowledge. But the main reason for the users to search for information about yoga is to find the practical application of the same. Today, in this article we will be discussing about Kundalini Yoga.
The Kundalini, known as Holy Spirit or Ruh or Paramchaitanya or Tao resides in the dormant state in the “Sacrum Bone” in a triangular shape at the base of the spine. This ‘Kumbha’ was called scared by the Latin people in ancient times because the bone was not harmed even after the rest of the body was burnt in the process of cremation.
It is the sanctuary of the “Mother Kundalini” and it is unalterable. If any unauthorized person made unwelcome advances to raise her, she rises but again falls down. But if anyone tries to advance her from the ‘Mooladhara Chakra’ that is outside ‘Mooladhara’, she does not rise and gets into a frozen state.
The power of Kundalini has been with us for ages and taking care of us as our individual mother. When she is awakened by an authorized master or true master, we get our self-realization. She rises along the central energy channel. While piercing gently through the seven energy centers or chakras, she emerges out of the fontanel bone area that is above the head in the form of a cool breeze.
The spiritual awakening unites the yogis and the seekers with the ‘Primordial Energy’ who gives life to this seed of Kundalini. When this breath of divine love throbs in us, we move into the new dimension of spirit and feel it as vibrations. Like buds bloom into flowers, we mature as ripened fruits into wholeness.
We have evolved from amoeba to the stage where we have become humans. But we seldom realize that evolution is a living process that requires continuous working towards eventful attainment. Journey means arrival. If God’s plan was to establish His kingdom in the hearts of human beings, then we still have something to seek and go on. We live in this mundane world that is afflicted with confusion and suffering. For ages, we have struggled to get the answer for our stress. Perhaps the solution lies within us with the transformation of the individual.
The practical spiritual awakening enlightens all the plexus or chakras and in the human body, it ascends from the bottom of the spine to the top of the head. You may experience self-awakening through complete relaxation that will elevate you into the witness state of collective consciousness. It is an actual happening that is taking place within you.
One of the best ways to get this living experience is through Sahaja yoga-founded by Shri Nirmala Srivastava, popularly called Her Holiness Shri Nirmala Devi in 1970. It is different from other yogas. It begins with a spiritual awakening. It is the actual realization of the unattainable dream of a distant desire. It removes the barriers and the meditation techniques which block the way of Kundalini awakening. As the divine blessings radiate from the onset, the ego diminishes in the seekers and destroys the sense of separation. The realized ones achieve unison with the divine.
It involves a simple process. It takes just 5 to 20 minutes to complete the process. It requires one to interact directly with the power of Kundalini. Be relaxed at all times. Attention should be free, not attached to something. If the thoughts are coming and going in the mind, try to detach yourself by just witnessing them until they fade away completely. Forgive all that’s disturbing you and effortlessly you will reach in thoughtless awareness. It by no way means that you cannot think, but that you see yourself in a pure awareness state.
The seven plexus hold their separate potential qualities to help Kundalini rise in the self-realization process. The Kundalini energizes and activates them while traveling through them. From the root to the fruit is the journey of the Kundalini. It begins its movement from the Mooladhara chakra-the root energy center displaying the qualities of innocence and wisdom and heads on to Swadhisthana- energy center at the lower abdomen taking care of our creative aspect; Nabhi-the energy center of the stomach symbolizing the evolution process; Anahata-the heart energy center with qualities of love and compassion; Vishudhhi-the throat energy center making us collective being; Agnya- the forehead energy center giving us the power of forgiveness, and Sahasrara-the energy center on the crown integrating us with the all-pervading cosmic energy.
How to Experience the Living Process
For the practical experience of Kundalini awakening through Sahaja yoga, you have to sit upright, comfortably on the floor with crossed legs or on a chair placing your feet slightly apart from each other at any suitable place resting your palms open and upward in your lap. During the whole experience, the right hand representing the power of action is working and touching all the chakras on the left side and the left hand representing the power of desire is placed with palm upwards on the knee. Close your eyes to touch your inner silence and follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Putting your right hand on your heart you need to ask this question thrice in your mind “Mother or Oh, Holy Ghost, am I the spirit?”
- Placing the right hand on the left side area of the upper abdomen ask three times “Oh, Divine Mother, am I, my own guru or master?”
- Now, put your right hand in the lower portion of the abdomen and say six times “Oh, Divine Mother, please give me the pure knowledge.”
- Take it now back on the upper part of the left abdomen and say “Oh, Divine Mother, I am my own guru; my own master” ten times.
- Now back to your heart, place your right hand there and say in your mind “Oh, Divine Mother, I am the pure spirit” twelve times.
- The next step is to place your right hand between the neck and shoulder area. Here you have to assure yourself by saying sixteen times “Oh, Divine Mother, I am not guilty at all”.
- In the next step you have to press your right hand on your forehead and repeat as many times as you can “Oh, Divine Mother, I forgive everyone including myself.”
- Now, take your hand on the backside of your head and press it while repeating “Oh, all-pervading power, please forgive me for all the mistakes I have committed knowingly and unknowingly against you.”
- The final step is pressing your right hand clockwise seven times on the top of your scalp or head and repeat “Oh, Divine Mother, please give me my self-realization.”
As the Kundalini rises and reaches the seventh plexus, ‘Sahasrara’, it merges with the universal consciousness and the seekers begin to feel the vibratory awareness on the hands and head. If the process is completed successfully as guided, the seekers enter into a thoughtless awareness state. Your mind will be thoughtless but fully enlightened. The signal of the completion of the Kundalini awakening is the realization of the vibrations as a cool breeze on the top of your head and palms. Through this process, the seekers and yogis attain all physical, mental, and emotional benefits.
