What are Energy Channels? How does it impact my life?

Did you know that we were born with our subtle “Inner Energy System”? This energy fosters and shields our mind, body, and soul. Innately, the inner energy made its way through the brain to create an extensive, maze-like structure of energy channels all through the central nervous system. This eternally alive subtle energy system has administered our physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being ever since.

Traveling throughout our body and winding around the three main upright energy channels, it constructs our left, right, and central mechanisms. All three energy channels work flawlessly to unite and balance the inner energy in our bodies. It partakes in maintaining physical health, temper, and emotions.

The Left Energy Channel

It is termed “Ida Nadi” in the Sanskrit language and is also called the moon channel. It forms the area of the superego traveling from the left side of the body and terminates on the right side of the brain. Superego is a depository of all our habits, inhibitions, conditioning, and memories. Our moral behavior depends on how this energy is developing within us. Primarily, it has to combat our self-centered and greedy urges in the procedure. Joy is the innate quality of this energy channel. Ideally, we can feel it as the cheer of an innocent child. The joy of the left channel is bruised by a few of our life experiences. Anyhow, it can be felt through creating balance.

When we face problems with our left energy we head towards emotional extremes. This results in a sudden shift of elated mood to a depressed state and vice versa. Extreme passivity and lethargy are an outcome of imbalanced left energy. Most of us have experienced the days when we felt absolutely hopeless and dejected. That feeling may have roots in the problematic left energy channel.

To sum up, the left energy channel dominates emotions, desires, and feelings. It connects our past life experiences and memories. If our emotional side is normal, we feel just fine in our emotional life. But if we touch the extreme levels of emotions like brooding, stress, and desperation, then we must understand that we have to do something to put out left side right. All we need is to adopt meditation techniques to recharge our feelings of joy to experience positivity.

The Right Energy Channel

Traveling up the right side of the body and terminating the ego area of the brain, this Pingala Nadi or the sun channel represents individualism and self-singleness. “I”, “Me” or “Myself” are the expressions of ego that allow us to relate to ourselves as single personalities distinct from others. The crucial qualities of the right energy channel are action and planning. They control our mental and physical activities. When the energy consumption on the right side exceeds the extreme, the left side is affected and becomes weak. When this happens, the feeling of joy vanishes and we become grouchy. We may feel like screaming at the slightest thing that appears wrong to us. We start behaving like a bull in a china shop hitting everyone unnecessarily.

When the balance between action and emotion is disturbed, we become stressed out and agitated. Then it becomes difficult to regain calm in workplaces and aggressive environments. Subsequently, the negativity continues to build and restrain us to correct the imbalance. Fortunately, meditation and awareness can help in accessing the inner energy to restore harmony.

To conclude, the right energy channel gives us the ability to act and plan but plays a negative role as it gives a boost to feelings of anger, stress, and irritation. Overdoing “I-Ness” makes people unpleasant and aggressive. However, introspection and meditation will tell us when we are going too high on our right side and when we need to rebalance it.

The Central Energy Channel

Called “Sushumna Nadi”, the central energy channel travels straight up the spine towards the head and constitutes the middle path that aids the spiritual journey of the seekers and yogis. In fact, spiritual growth comes from the central channel. This helps us to evolve as improved personalities with developed focus to adapt to the subtler spirituality aspects. Inner energy here potentially helps the seekers of spirituality to pave their way in uniting with the Divine Cosmic Energy. Proper functioning and balance of energy deliver the prime goal of meditation.

It may sound complicated but it is quite simple to observe and understand our energy channels. We can balance our emotions, actions, and desires by spending time on the central energy to nurture and improve our spiritual personality. Keeping all the energy channels in harmony will give us the power to ease out all the challenges of life. The enlightened awareness will serve as a gauge of awakened inner energy and we will enjoy the pleasures of life in a more meaningful way.
