Sometimes with his acting, sometimes with his style, her on-screen presence has always made us smile. We have laughed at the way he had his fingers on her neck. We went to LA KFCs, bought a bunch of crazy fancy dresses, built a small house. We were married in one of these three marriages. We had a lovely gift of all three together. It’s all been amazing. (Laughs.) But we still look really bad looking too (laughs). Maybe not so bad looking but a little aloof. You would think when I played Katy Perry, I could sleep with anyone. But I haven’t. It was a bit tough. It all happened very quickly.
For years, you had been married to Andrea Roitfeld. When did you start dating her?
Ninety-eight days ago, in the northern Indian state of Bihar, almost 400 miles from Delhi. She was born and raised in Kolkata, started acting on the stage and wanted to take advantage of the country’s latest action film to enter the Indian film industry. She had done a lot of acting before and was known for her dark side. At first she was quite hot. But then I took a look at her. She is doing good work. Now our relationship is more gentle, more relaxed than before. I think she can be pretty much any role I’m going to. We are still very much in love. (Sighs.)
How did the producers have you sign on to filming the role?
Was it a Hollywood producer, a producer in Bihari, one of your friends or the actor who is working on a movie for her? Or was it someone else who did it for your film?
It was the latter. (The actor was not available for an interview.)
When did you sit down for the audition?
At my home in Bourne, Indi… Our casting director read me through the script. She said: “We’ve got a real hot actress in India that has no experience working as an actress, so we need to take her to Kolkhoni, get her to train before filming.” And I was like, “OK. (sighs) I’ll do it.
