As it is known, Armenia - is the name of the country in the South Caucasus. For those who do not know where it is, the map below is presented.
But under this or a single root word, various settlements are named around the world. There are three settlements in Russia with this ethnonym of Armenians in their names. Two khutors (is a type of rural locality in some countries of Eastern Europe) with the same name Armyansky in the Apsheronsky and Krymsky districts of the Krasnodar Krai and the city of Armyansk in the Crimea. And in the USA there are 4 of them: the town of Armenia in Juneau County of Wisconsin, the neighborhood Armenia Gardens Estates in the city limits of Tampa in Florida, the township Armenia Township in Bradford County of Pennsylvania and the neighborhood Little Armenia in Los Angeles.
There are two of them in Romania - the villages of Armeniș in Caraș-Severin County in the west of the country and Urmeniș in Bistrița-Năsăud County of Transylvania. The communes that include these villages bear the same names. Two cities named Armenia are located in Colombia. The first is the capital of the Quindio Department. It is one of the main coffee growing centers in Colombia. So if someone tells you that there is no coffee production in Armenia, then don't believe him. The second is part of the Antioquia Department. The name of this department is the Spanish version of the name of the city of Antioch, which is located near historical Armenia. As you can see, in the New World, Armenia and Antioch have changed places: the country has become a city, the city - an administrative-territorial unit. And no longer next to each other, but one as part of the other.
There are two Armenias in Honduras. This is the municipality of Nueva Armenia in the department of Francisco Morazán and barrio Armenia Bonito near the downtown La Ceiba in the Atlántida Department.
The rest of the countries presented below have one settlement each, named after the Armenians. In Greece, this is the village of Armenoi (Αρμένοι, also transliterated as Armeni) in the Chania regional unit in the western part of Crete. In Italy, in the southern part of the Venetian lagoon, an entire island is named after the Armenians, although it is small. This is the island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni (Saint Lazarus of the Armenians), which is one of the centers of Mekhitarists, an Armenian Catholic congregation, and world centers of Armenian culture. It is here, in the funds of the monastery, that a sword is kept about 5000 years old, which makes it the oldest sword in the world.
And in Hungary, in the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County near the town of Törökszentmiklós, there is the village of Örményes. If you noticed, this name is somewhat similar to the names of the Romanian villages mentioned above. This is the legacy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In the old city of Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, there is the area of Armanitola. The area takes its name from of the settlement of Armenians, which surrounded the local Armenian Apostolic Church of the Holy Resurrection.
