New API Methods

There are many different API methods accumulated in the Mobile Ads SDK. It's time to optimize some of them. For example, previous versions of the SDK supported a separate method that allowed native ads to be loaded only for mobile apps. In this release, we will stop using it, and instead will have a method that works with all types of advertising at once. Other methods we have updated make ads easier to load and increase the return on ad placement for your site.

Some APIs have simply changed their names to make it easier for developers to navigate them. For example, before the class that is responsible for loading ads into the slider was called NativeAdUnitLoader, and now it is SliderAdLoader.

New APIs will allow application owners to monetize them more efficiently, and we will allow us to develop new products. You won't be able to use legacy APIs in an app with SDK 4. See the iOS and Android documentation for details .

SKAdNetwork framework support

The new version of the SDK from Yandex supports the SKAdNetwork framework for iOS applications. It simplifies ad attribution and helps you serve ads that interest audiences. And this, in turn, allows the advertising platform to increase income. At the same time, the framework does not require IDFA * - unique user identifiers that can be accessed only after explicit permission. Read more in the documentation .

Native video rendering with rewards

Now, rewarded video format ads in iOS apps are rendered using built-in operating system tools. Previously, the external component WebView was used for this - it slowed down the display of ads and created an additional load on smartphones and tablets.

Cold start ad loading

A cold start is a situation when a user first logs into an application after it has been completely closed. In such cases, ads used to load up to five seconds, and with the updated API, ads can load faster. While the feature is only available in Android apps , we will soon add it to iOS as well.

One request to upload multiple ads

In native ads, you can use a single query to load several different ads at the same time. This approach speeds up the display of ads, reduces traffic consumption and saves smartphone battery power. Read more in the documentation for iOS and Android .

* As of March 2021, Apple requires users to request permission to access Unique Device Identifiers (IDFAs). Using these identifiers, advertising systems display ads tailored to the interests of users. We have prepared guidelines on how best to request IDFA.
