As awards season approaches, films that would normally be in the running for Oscars and Golden Globes are starting to appear on our screens. Like many others, Fern lost her job in the 2008 financial crash and the recession that followed. Now, she lives in a van and spends her life on the road, living as a modern-day nomad, looking for work.
