World War II photo – American TBF Avenger carrier torpedo bomber (Grumman TBF Avenger), who lost part of the left wing in the attack on the enemy, goes into the landing.
The first serial TBF-1, which came off the assembly line of the Grumman plant in January 1942, was named Avenger, in memory of the recent tragedy in Pearl Harbor.
