My country (NIGERIA)

My name is Obi Oscar Nkemjika and I am a graduate of the Surveying & Geoinformatics (Faculty of Environmental Design and Technology) of the Federal Polytechnic University of Nekede Owerri Imo, Nigeria. I'm going to study for PGD (bachelor) but for now I work as a security guard in a bank. I want to earn money for myself to study for a master's degree at Moscow State University or the Patrice Lumumba Institute, so I decided to start a blog on Zen. I will tell you about my country, about politics, geography, culture, music and, of course, about cooking, and you can ask me any questions about anything that might interest you.

Nigeria is a large country located in West Africa. It is popularly called the Giant of Africa. Nigeria has 36 states and 3 main languages: Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, and there are also many tribes that have their own diverse languages but are not considered official. The capital of Nigeria is Abuja, one of the eight richest and most populous cities in Nigeria. The flag of Nigeria is green and white, green means fertility and white means peace. Nigeria has freedom of religion and is home to Christians, Muslims and traditional believers. My country is rich in numerous natural resources such as crude oil, gold, coal, zinc, limestone, etc. There are several tourist centers:Olumo Rock, Zuma Rock, Yankari Wildlife Refuge, Obudu Cattle Ranch, and various beaches and resorts. Our soil is very fertile, Nigeria was once a leading exporter of cocoa before oil was discovered.

Our political life is very busy. Nigerians want to see their country great and prosperous, but this is impossible without a strong and honest government. Young people are struggling to make ends meet, but strive to create their own blogs on the Internet, models, content, music, films, all without the help and support of the government or anyone else.

Recently, however, due to poor governance among the large tribes, social activists have emerged who want the country to be divided. Someone is for this, someone is against it, and the government, knowing about this, declared them terrorists. In addition, we have the Niger Delta freedom fighters, which are made up of youth from the South-South ethnic group. This movement originated in an oil-rich region in response to the unfair distribution of profits from the sale of our natural resources. The money for the oil sold goes into private pockets, and people live in poverty. Naturally, the youth are organizing to fight back. Although the government offered amnesty to the residents of the South-South.

TheEastern Region (Igbo) is one of the richest and most industrialized region. The Igbo people are known for their hard work and tenacity. Few of them managed to get a higher education, but even without it, they become successful entrepreneurs, and even their educated colleagues reach significant heights in business. In addition, they carefully preserve their folk traditions and cultures.

Western Region (Yoruba) - educated and wealthy. The people of the Yoruba tribe were fortunate politically, that is, they have always been in power in one way or another. The Yoruba are gifted and talented people, mostly from the Yorubu tribe, who represent Nigeria in the international music and film industries.

The northern region (Hausa) is the hardworking and most religious people of Nigeria. 90% of them are Muslims. Hausa are unsurpassed craftsmen in the agricultural sphere, they produce 50% of the country's food, for example, rice, yams, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peppers, cabbage, carrots, etc. But since a large number of people here are illiterate, their religious feelings are easily manipulated by various religious fanatics. For example, since 2009, riots provoked by the terrorist group Boko Haram have not abated in the Northern region, people are dying, property is being destroyed. There are rumors that some high-ranking politicians are sponsoring this terrorist group, but the government is working hard to put an end to it, and gradually we are winning.

Nigeria is a wonderful country, its people are ., hardworking and talented, but we only suffer from poor governance. Young people are smart and innovative. Nigeria lacks industrialization that would help develop many areas of the economy and, as a result, improve the lives of ordinary people. Nigeria is open to foreign investors in all aspects of life.

In my next article I will review interesting and safe tourist routes.

I hope you appreciate the indescribable beauty of God's creation - our unique nature, and love my beautiful country as much I do.
