It was the kitty cats’ yearly fright night. And the very excited Cookie, Candy and Pudding dressed up in spooky costumes to scare each other.
“I’m going as a monster,” said Cookie.
“I’m going as a little witch,” said Candy.
“I’m going as a skeleton,” said Pudding.
“Awesome!” shouted the kittens holding their paws.
The kitty cats went to the kitchen to scare their mom and dad. “Boo! Were you scared?”
“You’re so scary,” said Mom. “You turned me into a fraidy cat.”
“Mom’s right. You sure do look super spooky.”
The kitty cats seemed scare their mom and dad. But who would scare the three of them?
“Why don’t we invite some of our friends over?" suggested Candy.
The first frightful friend was Cupcake. “I’m princess spider Cupcake.”
She wasn’t exactly terrifying.
“Oh well, but at least I’m beautiful,” Cupcake said.
The next petrifying pal was Smudge who loved scaring his friends.
“I’m totally a spooky vampire.” But he didn’t manage to scare the kittens either.
“Everyone’s having a great fright night?” Mom and Dad entered the room.
No, the kittens weren’t frightened at all.
“We’re just going to do some gardening,” said Mom. “So, while we’re gone, why don’t you decorate the house with scary stuff?”
“Spooky decorations are exactly what we need,” said Candy.
The excited kittens and their friends went to work. Cookie drew some fierce monster faces.
Cupcake cut out a bunch of paper spiders. And everyone else made ghosts and bats out of tissue paper.
“It’s actually kind of pretty,” said Cupcake.
“I know. And it’s supposed to be scary,” said Pudding.
“What if we tell each other scary stories,” suggested Candy.
Vampire Smudge knew tons of scary stories. Candy switched off the light in the room. Smudge began his story, “It was a cold, a dark, and stormy night…”
Suddenly, the lights went off in the hall too.
“Candy, how did you turn out the hall light from here?” asked Pudding.
But she didn’t do that. The kittens seemed scared. Who might it be?
“Maybe, it was just the wind,” suggested Cupcake.
“Or could it be an actual ghost?” suggested Pudding.
“Or could it be a big black bat?” suggested Smudge.
Cookie had a bright idea how to handle it. He headed up to the hall.
“Guys!” he shouted. “There are two giant bats as big as cats!”
“Boo! Did we scare you?” there were Mom and Dad.
Cookie was right. These bats are exactly the size of cats.
“Your costumes are absolutely awesome!” said Cookie.
“Goodness! Your decorations are all just so creative!” said Mom. “In fact, they’re so pretty that it’s almost scary.”
“Ready for a happy surprise?” asked Dad.
It was a cake. Dad’s fright night cake turned out to be frightfully delicious.
The kittens ended up sharing a funny yummy fright night with family and friends.
