People have different opinions about the size of classes to study languages. One of them thinks that small groups are better while others believe that the number of students doesn't play a significant role in studying a language. All these are based on reasonable ideas, people in a small group are more efficient, but, as language learning requires immense efforts out of the class, the condition in a group shouldn't be overstated.

On the one hand, the efficiency of education in classes with a small number of participants is higher. There are two reasons for that: firstly, a teacher can provide more attention for each student to explain sophisticated matters or help with practical tasks. Secondly, each individual in the group shows more concentration when their number is small because there are less noise and other distracting factors, that significantly improves the quality of studying. Besides, small groups have a more cosy atmosphere and, consequently, better engagement of the students in the education process.

On the other hand, Large classes embrace more students, so teachers can use their time more efficiently, spreading the information for large audiences at the same time. Moreover, the importance of studying in class is overvalued, because studying of a language implies putting tremendous efforts out of the school, for instance, students have to learn new words by heart, practice for reading, listening, and resolving grammar tasks.

In my opinion, both approaches have positive and negative outcomes, but it doesn't mean that we should dismiss one of them. It is reasonable to apply all of them but for different stages of education. For example, beginners who need much more attention can study in small groups, but experienced students can train in large groups.

To conclude, people in a small group are more concentrated, so their efficiency of education is higher. However, in a large class, a teacher can influence more students at the same time. But, the best results reveal when these approaches depend on the stage of learning.
