In previous times, people stored and shared knowledge using books. In the last decades with technology advancement, information has moved to the internet. It has tremendous benefits regarding the gathering and sharing of knowledge, but can bring difficulties with access to the information in certain conditions.

The internet significantly changes its approaches to collect and spread information. It abolished all physical constraints related to the books. The amount of the knowledge stored on the internet is innumerable because it doesn't require giant space in a building to keep data, as it did with books. Consequently, electronic presentation of data makes searching and gathering of the information considerably easy and fast. Moreover, global information networks make knowledge more affordable for every part of society and unlock the market for independent authors because there are no extra costs to produce and keep every single copy of books. Besides, due to intangible quality, the information can follow with the user every time and everywhere.

On the other hand, several disadvantages make information on the internet unavailable or hard to reach. Firstly, this system highly depends on electrical energy and information networks. Moreover, access to the electronic form of information requires some specific devices such as ebooks, laptops and smartphones, but unfortunately, they can malfunction unexpectedly. For instance, it is necessary to duplicate electronic information with paper sources or books in a critical environment because devices can break, discharge or information network becomes unavailable. Besides, for some people, physical books are just more comfortable to read and make notes.

To conclude, I think that the advantages of the internet are conditioned by the amount of available information and advanced ways to gather it overweight some inconveniences appearing with needs for specific devices, energy networks, and information systems.
