In the last few days, the advancement of the internet allows more people to work or study remotely instead of travelling to their workplace or college every day. These changes release employees’ time, decrease the cost of running businesses, and allow teachers to be more efficient in the education process. So, I think, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, remote working produces a lot of positive outcomes for society and businesses. With eliminating everyday journeys to work, people save a tremendous amount of time, especially for big cities where people have to cross it from one side to another two times a day. Besides, it decreases traffic congestion and allows the rest participants to move faster. Furthermore, air pollution lows automatically with the decreasing amount of transport. From a personal point of view, working at home makes individuals more productive because the home environment is more comfortable than an office space. Namely, people can build a workplace with their requirements; the level of distraction is fully controllable and doesn't depend on external events. From a business point of view, companies can decrease office expenses and make their businesses more profitable.
On the other hand, some drawbacks can affect industries, society, and individuals. Lack of face to face communication weakens social skills; makes difficulties in understanding the intention of colleagues and slow down the rhythm of work. In addition, people who can't control themselves and used to operate under external management may start to suffer from procrastination, neglect their obligations, and fail their projects. From the employers' side, the organization of business processes based on remote operations require extra steps, extra time, and even change members of a team that have insufficient productivity. Eventually, the economy of a city or country can get significant changes. For example, restaurants, bus routes, or other services that operate based on the everyday movement of workers and simultaneously, are convenient for other people can be closed because their revenue depends on people's traffic.
To conclude, the benefits of remote work seem more precious from personal, economic, and environmental aspects and outweigh the disadvantages, the last ones can be turned round to advantages.
