Blood test for Tireoglobulin. What and why?

Watch our Movie (1.3 min.) about the Blood Test for Thyroglobulin. Dr. A.S. Basareva will tell you about the meaning and decoding of this indicator.

Thyreoglobulin (Tg) - is a protein formation - a protein formed by the cells of the thyroid gland. Thyroglobulin accumulates in the structural and functional unit of the gland - the follicle - as a colloid (a liquid substance with a suspension containing hormones). When hormones (T4 and T3) are released from the thyroid gland, Thyreoglobulin enters the bloodstream along with the hormones. Therefore, it is normal for a blood test to detect a certain amount of thyreoglobulin.
