Epic Games has updated the Unreal Engine to version 4.25, which, in particular, added support for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series x consoles.

The new iteration of the engine will allow developers to create and release games for next-generation systems, both of which are expected to launch this holiday season.
However, Epic notes that UE 4.25 only includes initial support for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Over the course of the year, the company plans to release updates with optimizations, fixes, and certification requirements to support developers switching to NextGen platforms.
The Niagara visual effects system, which was tested on Fortnite battle Royale, is now out of beta status in version 4.25. The engine update also includes support for the Microsoft HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset, new improvements to the Chaos physical system, improvements to shading models, improved audio capabilities, and more.
Unreal Engine is one of the most popular game engines used in many high-profile projects. In 2015, Epic Games made UE free for all developers with the exception of commercial products, the creators of which must pay a quarterly royalty of 5% of sales to Epic when they reach an income of $ 3,000.
