Doctors often use erroneous methods, calling them "treatment." Such endocrinologists want to do better, but at least they don’t heal anything. You should be aware of these medical errors and take action in advance.
1. The tactics of "Block and replace"
With hyperthyroidism and thyrotoxicosis, endocrinologists often prescribe simultaneously two opposite drugs - thyreostatics and hormones. Thyrostatics (Tyrosol, Propicil, Merkazolil) limit the formation of hormones in the cells of the gland. Hormonal drugs contain thyroid hormones. Why inhibit the formation of hormones in the gland with high doses of thyreostatics, which have strong side effects, and at the same time introduce artificial hormone ?!
This strange tactic has been heavily criticized by some leading endocrinologists. But it continues to be used by doctors in Russia. The strangeness of this “carrot and stick” tactic is not recognized by experts, but it does not contribute to the treatment of the gland.
2. Anti-inflammatory treatment of "Autoimmune thyroiditis"
Doctors present autoimmune thyroiditis as inflammation of the thyroid gland. Therefore, anti-inflammation drugs are used. But the result does not reach. Recovery of the gland does not occur. Why? Because with autoimmune thyroiditis, in reality, there is no true inflammation in the thyroid gland.
3. Ointment for thyroid disease?
Manufacturers of ointments with names that indicate the thyroid gland, offer to process the skin of the neck in the gland and so achieve a cure. But the main question is: "How will the contents of this ointment enter the gland through the skin?" (From the skin surface to the gland, from 1.5-2 cm or more).
If you think that the medicine from the ointment enters the gland through the blood, where it is absorbed from the surface of the skin, then you can just as well rub the ointment anywhere in the body, from where blood will flow to any place in the body. In other words, a very strange method of treatment is ointment on the surface of the neck.
4. Grass for the thyroid gland?
Pharmacists have come up with the idea that a certain plant cures all thyroid diseases (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroiditis, nodes, etc.). Is there such a versatile weed? Is there "grass for the organ"?
The science "Phytotherapy" reveals the properties of plants: vasoconstrictive, sedative, diuretic, carminative, antipyretic, etc. Herbal medicine does not distinguish herbs for a specific organ. On the contrary, each herb has a combination of its medical effects. For example, plantain or medicinal chamomile are used for diseases of various organs.
Linking a plant name to a specific organ is a marketing ploy ! Examples: oats - liver, blueberries - eyes, white cinquefoil - thyroid gland ... It is surprising that some doctors prescribe such "drugs".
5. Hormonal drug against nodes.
Studies and practice have confirmed that the appointment of a hormonal drug does not change the state of the thyroid gland nodes. But some doctors are probably unaware of this.
6. Iodine in hypothyroidism.
For some reason, endocrinologists like to prescribe iodine preparations for any TSH bias to the larger side. But in almost 80% of hypothyroidism, there is no iodine deficiency.
Before taking iodine-containing drugs, you need to assess the reality of the deficiency of this trace element using an analysis of iodine in the urine.
7. Hormone treatment of TSH.
This is the most famous and common strange treatment for diseases of the thyroid gland. Patients with hypothyroidism, instead of real treatment, take a hormonal drug with which doctors are trying to reduce TSH. The state of the thyroid gland does not improve, recovery does not occur.
