The Banners of the Teutonic Knights in the Battle of Grunwald (Part 2)

13. The Banner of the Prussian vassals from the land of Kulm (barry wavy of four argent and gules, in chief and a Latin cross sable). The commander: Komtur von Thorn Johann von Seyn, Graf von Veynde (he also led the unit No. 23); died in the battle.

14. The Banner of the Komturei and Castle of Graudenz (argent, a bulls head couped affronty sable, ringed and armed argent). The commander: Komtur Wilhelm von Helfenstein, who was killed at Tannenberg. The unit was composed of the knights and folk from Graudenz.

15. The Banner of the Komturei and Castle of Balga (argent, a wolf statant palewise gules and a chief sable). The unit was led by Komtur Friedrich von Zollern and was composed of the Order’s knights and some hired mercenaries.

16. Banner of the Komturei and Castle of Schönsee (argent, two fish niant embowed and naint counter-embowed fesswise gules). The unit was led by Komtur Nicolaus von Viltz with the knights of the Order and hired mercenaries.

17. The Banner of the city of Königsberg (gules, a lion rampant queue forchee argent crowned Or and on a chief argent a Latin cross fesswise throughout to staff). The unit was led by Hannos von Heydeck.

18. The Banner of the Komturei of Althausen (quarterly sable and argent); was led by Komtur Eberhard von Ippenburg with the Teutonic Knights, own knights and hired help. Eberhard von Ippenburg died at Tannenberg.

19. The Banner of the Komturei and Castle of Tuchel (per pale argent and gules). The unit was composed of the Order's knights, secular vassals from the region and hired help. The commander: Komtur Heinrich von Schwelborn.

20. The Banner of the Komturei and city of Nessau (sable, a pale argent). The unit was coposed of the Order's Brothers and hired help, led by Komtur Gottfried von Hatzfeld.

21. The Banner of the guest knights and militia of Westphalia (argent, two arrows in cross gules). They came to help the Teutonic Knights on their own and at their own cost; fought under their own banner. The name of the commander is unknown.

22. The Banner of the Komturei and Castle of Roggenhausen (argent, two arrows in cross gules); the unit was led by Friedrich von Wed, the Vogt von Roggenhausen, who was killed at Tannenberg.

23. The Banner of the Komturei and city of Danzig (gules, two crosses patty (pattée) counterchanged argent). The unit was composed of the Teutonic Knigts, secular knights, residents and sailors of Danzig, including the Mayor, as well as foreign mercenaries. The commander of the knights and mercenaries was Komtur von Thorn Johann von Seyn, Graf von Veynde. The possible Mayor of Danzig could be Arnold Hecht or Konrad Letzkau; the captain of the local militia could be Albrecht Mantel or Andreas Fecher.

24. The Banner of the Komturei of Engelsburg (gules, an angel statant affronty proper wings displayed reversed winged and vested argent crined Or). The unit was composed of the Order's knights and hired help. The commander: Komtur Burkhard von Wobecke; he was killed at Tannenberg.

25. The Banner of the Komturei of Strasburg (argent, a stag courant palewise gules). The unit was composed of the Teutonic Knights and hired help. The commander: Komtur Balduin Stal; he was killed at Tannenberg.

26. The Banner of Bratian Castle and the city of Neumark (argent, three stags antlers in pall proper); the unit was composed of Teutonic Knights, city-folk from Neumark and hired help; was led by Bailiff Johann von Redere.
