Hello and welcome everybody! In the wake of the few circumstances in which we are thrown into by our destiny, I have to start my daily episode of "a bit of English" with the most viral topic today. I get to remind you that effectiveness of all what you're doind about English have a straight dependance on your vocabulary, then, try to write down and learn everything what you don't know wherever you are. Let's get started.
I have already mentioned the word "viral", which has actually two meanings:
1) Connected or related to virus (in its straight meaning);
2) Related to video, photo, phrase etc. that is spreading fast in internet (like a virus circulate through the world in our real life)
I've mentioned the "viral topic", which means that the topic is spreading so fast in internet, like "coronavirus topic" is spreading today.
That's really important to take care about your health and keep your wellness up, especially nowadays. There're a few recommendations that the World Health Organization is giving to us, let's take a look. Try to understand as well as you can:
1) wash your hands frequently;
2) maintain social distancing;
3) avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth;
4) practice respiratory hygiene;
5) if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early;
6) stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider;
The first piece of advice tells us to "wash our hands frequently", where "frequently" is "often". If i washed my hands frequently i would get up, for instanse, every 30 minutes and do it to keep coronavirus distant from me.
The second piece of advise is "to maintain social distancing", where "maintain" is "to keep something to don't let it stop". For example: to be happy in your life, you should maintain good relationship with you relatives.
The third piece of advise is "to avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth", and I hope there's nothing misunderstood in it for you. Let's go further!
The fourth piece of advide is the hardest one, methinks, but there's nothing in it that you couldn't get by with. The phrasal verb "get by", by the way, means "dealing with some situation". For example if i had a hard homework, i would have to get by with it, otherwise I got a poor mark.
Let's back to the recommendation. That's "to practice respiratory hygiene", where "respiratory" is "related to breath" and "hygiene" is the complex of measures intend to keep your wellness up. Using this words in sentences we'd say, for instance, like that: i have no respiratory problems, especially because i keep rules of hygiene.
Let's get by with the fifth piece of advice too. "If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early". Here, i think, the word "fever" can call some problems, and it's an illness when you have a temperature and feeling of heat and feeling of cold changing each other because of you're sick.
And we're on a homestretch now, getting to the last, sixth piece of advise of WHO: "Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider". Here "healthcare provider" is an organization which provides medicine service.
Ok, now we've read all advice given by WHO and we're completely ready to fight with this new infection. Let's take a brief recap of the vocabulary we've got here:
1) viral - connected or related to virus or related to video, photo, phrase etc. that is spreading fast in internet.
2) frequently - often;
3) maintain - to keep something to don't let it stop;
4) get by - dealing with some situation;
5) respiratory - related to breath;
6) hygiene - the complex of measures intend to keep your wellness up;
7) fever - an illness when you have a temperature and feeling of heat and feeling of cold changing each other because of you're sick;
8) healthcare provider - organization which provides medicine service.
