Hello, K-beauty lovers! Since I have gotten to know about Korean skincare products, I have tried a few brands, but so far the only sleeping pack products, I still using is Laneige brand.
Laneige sleeping mask is not a new product. Moreover, you can find this product raved tons on websites, and most of it was positive. It even claimed as one of the best sleeping masks.
This product was featured in my February Skincare Empties post, so feel free to check it out! ~
I purchased the small size (15ml), which finished within two weeks. I had used it every night before I went to bed.
Laneige Sleeping Mask Lavender does not have any difference with the ‘original’ ones (blue tube), it has a gel-type milky color texture, if the blue one has fresh smell alike breeze air, then the purple one has a lavender scent for my likeness. It absorbs fast, leaving a bit watery feeling on the face.
The ingredient list has made me happy - explained below:
The silicone blend (cyclohexasiloxane and cyclopentasiloxane) is the base of the texture of this sleeping mask. When applied to the skin, the silicone mix gives a silky & slippery feeling to the touch and acts as a mild water repellent by forming a protective barrier on the skin. It can also fill in fine lines/wrinkles, giving the face a temporary “plump” look.
Trehalose and Beta-Glucan are polysaccharide sugars, which work twofold to soothe and calm irritated skin and as an effective anti-ager to firm and plump fine lines and wrinkles. Sodium Hyaluronate is a well-known humectant - it helps to retain the skin moisture and to reduce the TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss). Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stable form of vitamin C, and it helps to brighten and revitalize the skin. Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, and Manganese Sulfate are a source of minerals, which are skin conditioning agents.
My point of view - This product has impressive kinesthetic properties. It feels good on the surface, and it spreads well; it is lightweight and fast-absorbing. The manufacturer recommends to rinse it off in the morning with a splash of warm water. I don't think it is a good idea, because of the high silicone content and the buildup on the skin during the nighttime.
My verdict - I have fallen in love with Laneige sleeping mask since I used its second generation. It moisturized my skin and didn’t give any sticky feeling, perhaps due to its fast absorption. Speaking of the lavender smell, it is not coming from the plant oil or extract, that's why I was able to use it without any reactions. Although it stated best used twice a week, mostly I used it daily because I have dryness skin problem during night time. Nothing to complain about this product. Its lavender smell is kinda strong for me, but thankfully it does not last long.
