Hello, I hope you're having a good day so far! I used to be all about oil control for my combination skin (oily in the t-zone, dry/normal everywhere else. Lately, I realize that the best way to achieve supple, healthy skin with a proper oil-water balance is to hydrate and protect it. A healthy skin barrier function keeps the moisture in and damaging effects of the environment out.

The Atopalm Real Barrier Essence Mist promises to hydrate and nourish the skin instantly and then provide a 24 hour “hydrating shield effect”. This mist has been clinically proven to hydrate for 24 hours and doesn’t contain 10 potentially harmful/irritating compounds commonly found in other cosmetics, making it suitable even for sensitive skin.
This mist can be used as a toner, an essence, or an occasional puff during the day for a boost of moisture. The texture is very runny, like water. The mist is very fine, and it absorbs immediately.
The ingredient list made me really content. I was excited to try out this amazing product!
The soothing components are present in a big proportion in this essence mist. The panthenol top position level will create a protective layer on your skin surface. The soothing and protecting properties are boosted by the mistletoe extract, allantoin, and madecassoside. The hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, along with palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, helps to regenerate and calm the irritated skin. The orange and lavender essential oils, used as a fragrance, have put me off. The sensitive skin could react to these oils instantly. Please consider this factor when choosing a product for sensitive skin type.
The formulation is very balanced. However, the oil phase and the water phase are not emulsified. The product shall be shaken well before use, to let the phases to blend in. We can observe that the texture changes, it becomes thicker, and the color is white after we shake the mist.
My point of view - After using it on my clean face, it stung, reddened, and irritated me. This effect got more and more evident during the time. Apparently, I have a sensitivity to the essential oils, which are present in this essence mist. I did not expect that from a brand, created for sensitive skin. I will not purchase this product in full size, nor any products from this brand! I have analyzed the products' composition, and they all have the same mix of extracts and essential oils, so that would irritate my skin even more. Maybe I will consider it after the fragrance-free reformulation.
