Over 20 Kilometers of New Bike Lanes Will Be Constructed in St. Petersburg in 2020

This year St. Petersburg plans on expanding the network of bike lanes. More than 20 kilometers of routes will be laid in the north and south of the city, including both sides of Karpovka River Embankment, from Morskoy Avenue to the Park of 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg.

One of the new bike lanes planned by the Committee for Transport Infrastructure Development 2020 will be laid from Tikhoretsky Avenue to Thoreza Avenue, from the Forestry Academy Park to Institutsky Avenue, and from Pargolovkaya Street to Kantemirovskaya Street.

Bike lanes will also appear in the south of St. Petersburg. The route will start in Moskovsky district, pass through Frunzensky district and end in the center. The cyclists will be able to drive from Tipanova Street to Slavy Avenue and Sofiyskaya Street, from Bukharestskaya Street and back to the center of St. Petersburg.

In total, the city will lay 20 kilometers of routes for cyclists. About RUB 140 million were allocated for the implementation of these plans.
