Warm skirt, thick sole and balaclava. Seven things for you to warm up this winter

Why are skirts warmer than jeans? What insulant will save us in St. Petersburg wind? What can you do if a hat doesn't suit you? Stylist Aleksandra Dobryanskaya, Bumaga newspaper's author of emailings on casual wear, writes about warm and trendy clothes that will help to survive frosts.

Wool pants

Jeans are not the most appropriate clothes for winter. The best gift you can give yourself for cold weather is a pair of wool pants. They are warmer, and besides, it's easier to put on thermal underwear in addition to tights: pants are usually wider, softer and stretchier than jeans.

Skirt of dense texture

The weather is chilly. You open the wardrobe and the last thing that comes to your mind is to grab a skirt (if you have one). However, a midi skirt or dress is perfectly warm, especially if you wear a slip dress and tight leggings. Bear in mind: skirt should be made of dense texture, for example, wool, tight cotton or quilted polyester with fleece backing, and allow you to move freely. Otherwise, you will not last long in this snow pile mode.

Warm vest

You definitely know how good it feels when you wear several layers of clothing. But here is a problem: when we put on too many items with long sleeves, they are likely to get stuck in outerwear. So, you should think about a vest instead of another fluffy cardigan: it will keep you warm just as well. The point is it should not be too thick, otherwise it won't fit under your outerwear.

Thick sole boots

Soft lining of winter shoes is amazing but not necessary: it can be eked out by woolen socks. What is really important is a thick sole.1.5 centimeters and thicker will be perfect (the higher your foot is, the warmer). You can put woolen insoles in your shoes. They are sold probably everywhere: in shoe stores, shoe repairs, and the Ulybka Radugi stores.

High socks

I offer you my congratulations if you are a lucky owner of boots that cover the lower part of your shin. Otherwise, you should definitely fall in love with high and bright socks. First of all, they will save your ankles — one of the most vulnerable parts of your body in the face of frost — and secondly, they will save you from muddy until the Maslenitsa festival.

Quality thermal insulation for outerwear

All winter coats are warm, but some of them are warmer than others. It depends not on their thickness, but rather on layers sewn inside. The best type of insulation nowadays is considered thinsulate, which is comparable to down fiber by thermal saving (such clothes should be washed at 40 degrees). Other good examples are sustants, hollow fiber, fiberskyn, fibertech, polyfiber, and isosoft. Down fiber is not the best option, as it causes allergies, pills quickly, and is an excellent place for mites to inhabit. Sintepon keeps heat up to a maximum of −10 degrees Celsius. This material is used by most mass-market manufacturers.

Balaclava or cap

I believe beanie-hats suit only about three percent of people. So I suggest you to be creative. If a balaclava or cap does not make you prettier, you may look ridiculous enough to cause unwanted admiration of bus passengers or even your mom. The general rule says: ears and back of the head should be covered. Let cupid hats be worn by Marseille hooligans in Marseille winter.
