K im Kardashian West’s decision to release a photo of only the West family for their annual Christmas card image was influenced by an all-too-familiar holiday experience: stress.
On Friday, the reality star shared an adorable snap of her and husband Kanye West with all four of their children—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West—in tow, clad in ultra-comfy-looking matching knit loungewear. The photo, however, was a stark contrast from the Kardashian cards of Christmases past; those usually include the Kardashian and Jenner sisters, as well as their children, and the family matriarch, Kris Jenner.
“It’s been difficult for them for years to get everyone together for a Christmas card,” a source told People. “Last year when Kim organized it, there was a lot of complaining. It really stressed her out. She was over the drama and decided to do one for just her family this year.”
Kanye was reportedly behind the sartorial sweat suit styling of the photo. A source told the magazine, “No one was stressed, the kids were happy and it was perfect. Kanye is not a fan of glitz so this is why they are dressed casually.”
The laid-back photo showcased the West family in a refreshing, more relatable light, with fans on social media pointing out how the family’s oldest son, Saint, and his supersweet smile stole the spotlight. Family stress and scheduling conflicts aside, Kim posted the photo with her fans in mind.
“She knew fans wanted to see her whole family together,” the source added, “so it was important for her to share a special photo.”
