Here are the TOP activities on Baikal you will share with our team of volunteers on a GBT project:
1. Skating
There is no better place on Earth you can experience such freedom and feel the power of the wind, like flying, than on the endless ice covering Lake Baikal. Remember to bring your skates with you, by the way.
2. Gather a personal collection of Baikal ice
The most exciting activity is to discover new varieties of ice and take them home with you in pictures and in memory. Baikal ice is special and unique. Some ice is smooth, other types have ripples, there are hummocks - whole piles of ice, and ice with bubbles. Different colors, shapes, and textures - there are dozens, maybe even hundreds of types! Let's find them all together?
3. Taste buuzy
In the winter, Buryat cuisine - which is like nothing else, is high in calories and warms you up. Be sure to try buuzy - a local dish that looks like big dumplings with a hole on top. You will learn all the delicacies of eating these goodies.
4. Climb to viewpoints and visit the protected areas of the Baikal region
A wintery Baikal, with all its ice patterns, looks simply incredible from many viewpoints. Also, from these beautiful viewpoints, we will see frozen Baikal and possibly the mountains of Khamar-Daban. As well as a modern trail in the Baikal nature reserve with wooden flooring. We give every visitor the opportunity to travel to the nature reserve, get acquainted directly with its untouched corners, and see the beauty of Lake Baikal with their own eyes.
