In the alternative history version of American history, Vladimir Lenin was removed from power in Russia in 1917, for defeating the Autocracy. Mikhail Gorbachev became leader of the Soviet Union, ending the despotism of Joseph Stalin and establishing socialism in the former Soviet Union. America and Britain assisted the new Soviet Union by training its new military and giving the country nuclear missiles, since there were not any in Europe (an 'embargo'), and turning the Soviet Union's foreign policy and political system on its head to accommodate American and British interests. When the Soviet Union collapsed, America had a 20-year lead in providing world peace to the international community, with the collapse of Communism, and the decision made to move forward with communism out of communism, removing America's 'occupation of' China.
