The Plywood Theater at BDT will present performances and installations by Jan Fabre and video art by Bill Viola in November and December.
On November 24, the contemporary art program opens at BDT with the presentation of works by video art classic Bill Viola. His living pictures can be seen on the big screen from a box of the Plywood Theater on November 24, 27 and 29. Each show will be preceded by the Plywood Theater tour given by Gleb Yershov, an art historian. On December 6 and 10, the premiere of the performance by the composer Boris Filanovsky Arkhitekton Teta, written specifically for the Plywood Theater, will take place.
The program will be followed with the festival of Jan Fabre, Love is the Power Supreme, which will be held from December 2 to 16. On December 14, 15 and 16, the Russian premiere of the special version of The Night Writer will take place. On December 5, 6 and 7, the world premiere of Resurrexit Cassandra (Resurrection of Cassandra) will be performed on the Second Stage of the BDT, in Kamennoostrovsky Theater, and on December 13 and 14, on the Main Stage of the Theater there will be Preparatio Mortis (Preparation for Death).
In spring 2019, the Plywood Theater was opened inside the Bolshoi Drama Theater. It is a three-storey plywood structure with its own entrance, wardrobe, stage and auditorium.
