Finally, volume can last the whole day! That's the dream of every woman.
The reality often looks quite different unfortunately.
For a long time I was unhappy about my fine hair. Stringy, zero fullness. Until I finally figured out which care and styling routine is needed!
I'll tell you here how to create more volume at the base with just a few tools and what typical styling mistakes lead to flat hair.
1. Spray instead of volume cream
You've probably already tried loads of products for more volume. Mousse, cream or spray - which gives the most volume?
My favorite is definitely a spray that you spray into damp hair. Mousse and volume creams spoil the hair sooner and provide only short term effect. A spray has the lightest texture and therefore keeps the volume at its best.
2. Shampoo with lava clay
Many shampoos, which are supposed to give volume, simply dry out the hair. Conventional volume shampoos roughen the cuticle layer of the hair fiber - this gives your mane more grip, indeed. In the long run, however, that damages your hair.
For someone like me who regularly stains dyeing, such shampoos are nothing. My hair structure is too damaged! I found another solution that is gentler and gives extra volume.
I use a mild natural shampoo in which I add some lava clay.
This mineral is currently considered an absolute insider tip among beauty fans and is suitable for both mild hair cleansing, as well as for facial and body care.
This is particularly easy. Just put some shampoo in your hand, sprinkle some lava soil over it and massage the mix into the hair. The hair looks super full after drying and does not fatten the whole day! It is just a greasy scalp that causes a flat approach.
"Lava earth" is also used by many hair gurus as a solo for hair washing. This is too complicated for me. I prefer to stick to my technique because it is much faster and less complicated.
3. Use a weightless conditioner
You can do anything when styling, but if the hair care is too rich, the hairstyle will not survive. A heavy conditioner is often the reason of flat and stringy hair that lacks bounce.
Unfortunately it is not so easy to find a product that cares, but does not affect the volume.
For a long time I was looking for a solution for my fine hair - and finally found my perfect conditioner.
Its light formula smooths the hair and makes it silky and combable - without causing a flat look.
I use the conditioner almost daily, for months now. And in all that time, my hair was never overblown, flabby or stringy.
4. More volume at the roots: Blow dry against the growth direction
Also, the way you dry the hair affects how it looks. Air drying is the healthiest option, no question. However, you do not get much volume for the approach.
At least try the approach a bit - so you are the delicate lengths and tips, but do not have to do without the styling benefits of a hair dryer. I create the most volume when I lift a few wet strands with my hands and then blow dry against the direction of growth. That creates a great volume!
After blow-drying, wrap the strands on the top of the head and let them cool for 10 minutes. Cooling in the right shape is enormously important because it fixes the styling - in this case, the volume.
5. Volume powder instead of hair spray
You want more volume at the roots? Then I have to recommend you a little styling wonder, which I've been using for years.
I'm not a fan of too many different products on my hair. But I can not do without a little beauty helper: the powder from Osis!
It comes in a small box, which makes the handling particularly easy. You just sprinkle something on your hair, preferably directly on the hairline. Then you rub the powder a little and it instantly creates more volume at the roots, which stays for hours. You can use it at the end of the day to give your haistyle a fresh look. It works well as a dry shampoo replacement.
