Astronautics
Exploration and exploration of space is primarily of practical use. For example, we now have at our disposal a reliable satellite TV - radio communication, accurate weather forecasts and much more. Unfortunately, however, as a result of increased research, a sharp increase in the number of launches of launch vehicles and other vehicles, and the associated consequences, there is an increasing contamination of the Earth's and near-Earth environment, which has a detrimental effect on the Earth's ecology.
Now we can argue about whether or not space has lived up to our hopes, but one thing is certain: the day when a powerful rocket for the first time elevated man above the planet has ushered in a new era of civilization - the space age - opening the way for mankind to the universe. As we get used to the daily launches of spacecraft, we no longer feel the enthusiasm of the generation of the sixties. The romance of Cosmos, unfortunately, has gone away, becoming commonplace.
