Cats are very clean animals. And most likely, cats don't need to bathe at all. After all, they do a great job on their own, as they lick their fur coats a hundred times a day.
However, there are situations when they need to be redeemed. Especially if the cat goes outside. Or a long-haired cat. And of course, bathing is essential if you have a pedigree cat and you are preparing it for an exhibition.
There will be no problems if your pet has been accustomed to water procedures since childhood. But what to do with the adult and strong cat, who is panicky afraid of water? What to do if a cat, who is not accustomed to bathing, was suddenly transported in the ground (for example, in a country house)?
In order for the bathing to go without stress and scratched hands, it is necessary to prepare for it:
- Cut your cat's claws and comb her hair thoroughly to make sure she doesn't have any tangled hair;
- A large bath towel for wrapping wet pets;
- A shampoo bottle, which should be a veterinarian, can cause allergies in your pet;
- Bathwater or a large pelvis should be warm, but never hot.
Before washing with your pet, it is worth playing to make your pet tired. If the cat is an adult, then alone with his bathing can not cope, will require an assistant.
As soon as the animal is a little tired, it must be taken to the bathroom and the door must be closed.
Bathe the cat as follows:
- Pets are carefully lowered into a container of water, and it is important to talk to him kindly and in no case raise his voice. It makes sense to put cotton wool in your pet's ears in advance to avoid the ingress of liquid into them, as this can cause otitis.
- One person should hold the cat firmly while the assistant gently moistens the pet's hair with water and gently soaps it from the back and towards the sides.
- The last thing you should do is to wash your pet's head and face with leftovers so that soapy water does not get into your eyes.
Depending on how dirty the cat's hair is, it may be necessary to re-soap it. It is then important to rinse the shampoo thoroughly, otherwise, the cat will drain it.
Wet cats are wrapped in a bath towel and taken to a warm room without draughts. It is important that as much moisture as possible is absorbed into the fabric.
After that, the cat will start to shake off and lick out on its own. If the animal is afraid of a hairdryer, it is necessary to wait for the wool to dry completely, comb the pet and only then let it out of the room.
While bathing, some owners use special mesh bags or a short leash with a collar.
This is a controversial issue. It all depends on the individuality of the pet, so here look for yourself. The animal may be even more frightened and it will not be possible to lure him into the bathroom to wash him.
Even if the pet is very afraid of water and nervous, there is no need to raise his voice or physically punish the animal.
After bathing, the cat will be given a treat, which will calm her down and make it easier for her to endure water procedures in the future.
