"10 strange galactic phenomena"

Unexpected galactic phenomena can equally surprise both beginners and the most experienced astronomers. They disprove the predictions and put us at a standstill, but at the same time expand our knowledge of how the universe works. The main thing is to keep an eye on them and not to miss them.
Galaxies are tiny and huge, confirming existing hypotheses and destroying them in the dust. Every such find is valued by scientists for its weight in gold and is the subject of many debates. Here are the randomly arranged 10 of the strangest galactic phenomena of recent years.

1. Galaxy Triangle II - a dwarf galaxy near the Milky Way, consisting of only a thousand stars. But it is quite capable of surprise - its stars move with improbable speed. Perhaps because of the fact that Triangle II is concentrated in a huge amount of dark matter. Another option is due to the gravitational effects of neighboring galaxies.

2. The mysterious galactic ring is an object recently discovered by Hungarian and American astronomers. An object that should not exist. It is unimaginably huge - five billion light-years wide (the Milky Way, for comparison - about 50 thousand b.p.), and emits the brightest gamma-ray bursts in the universe. It does not fit into any modern theory and puts scientists at a standstill.

3. Tayna is the oldest and dimmest of all the galaxies found so far. It could be found in a remote cluster of MACS J0416.1-2403 only combining the capabilities of "Hubble" and "Spitzer", and called the word in the language of the Aymara Indians - "firstborn". Presumably, it was formed only 400 million years after the Big Bang among the very first galaxies.

4. The birth of galaxies until recently remained a purely theoretical area. Astronomers at the California Institute of Technology discovered a protogalactic disk that absorbs hydrogen from a long string of gas drawn from a huge stellar structure. This spectacle was detected thanks to the successful location of two quasars, whose light reflected the galactic "baby".

5. The Big Magellanic Cloud and Small Magellanic Cloud are the closest neighbors of the Milky Way, and the Big one, of course, is larger than the Small one. As it turned out, it was not for nothing, because it could steal several million stars from its "brother". Astronomers have calculated this from the unusual speed characteristics of the red giants they observe, as well as their atypical chemical composition.

6. Hercules A is a galaxy outstanding for a number of reasons. Inside it, there is a black hole in a monstrous mass weighing 2.5 billion suns. The black hole in the Milky Way weighs a thousand times less. From the center of Hercules A two most powerful plasma jets with a length of more than 1.5 million liters each, emitting radio waves, fly out. This makes this galaxy the brightest source of radio waves of all known people.

7. The oldest white dwarfs of the Milky Way were discovered recently, in the amount of 70 pieces. The Milky Way cannot be called a young man - in fact, it is as old as the universe itself. And the white dwarfs may have been the first stars in our galaxy, followed by hundreds of billions of others.

8. The brightest galaxy we know was found with the WISE telescope. To say that WISE J224607.57-052635.0 is glowing means to say nothing - it shines like 300 trillion suns. The supposed reason is in a black hole of such gravity that it is difficult to imagine its existence. It has long exceeded its absorption threshold and spills energy into the surrounding dust cocoon, generating a luminous aura.

9. The M60-UCD1 galaxy is very small - only 300 light-years in length and about 140 million stars. Only here its black hole easily plugs in a black hole of the Milky Way - weight in 21 million suns against 4 million. Previously, it was believed that the mass of the black hole directly determines the size of the galaxy, but the M60-UCD1 refuted this theory with one existence.

10. The 13.2 billion-year-old EGS8p7 galaxy is so old that we should not see it at all. By all indications, it should have been formed back in the days when the universe was filled with freshly created and impenetrable neutral hydrogen for galaxy radiation. Perhaps it was so bright and hot that it had reionized hydrogen around it much earlier than other galaxies.
