Probably anyone knows what pandas look like: the image of a bear with black paws and ovals around its eyes is known thanks to the World Wildlife Fund, WWF. It is all the more surprising that only a few people in China and its neighboring countries knew about the panda 200 years ago.
A typical bear with an interesting hair color and the behavior of a big panda is very different from any other bear. Omnivorous predators by nature, the inhabitants of Chinese forests chose only bamboo as their main food. Sometimes large pandas can eat fish, birds or berries, for example, but in the remaining 98% of cases young shoots and bamboo leaves will be preferred. The plant is not very nutritious, so pandas grow only 70-80 cm in the hills and 160 cm in length compared to their more predatory brethren. Thick fur and a thick layer of subcutaneous fat protect the Chinese bear from hypothermia.
Pandas live in the mountains. More precisely, in bamboo forests on the slopes of mountains. These impassable, sparsely populated habitats have led to the fact that the pandas have almost no natural enemies. And they were not well known until in the middle of the XIX century improved tourist facilities appeared and scientists and researchers got to the previously protected areas.
Why is the panda depicted on the WWF emblem? Since the middle of the 20th century, Chinese peasants have been actively cultivating land and cutting down bamboo thickets. The pandas' areas of habitation were drastically reduced, food was scarce, and beautiful black-and-white animals began to starve to death. Without the intervention of global nature conservation organizations, pandas could disappear completely from the face of the planet.
Now scientists are studying the way of life and habits of big pandas. Reserves are growing, where babies are being nursed. These actions bring good results for last 20 years the quantity of pandas has increased on some hundreds individuals! And continues to do so. The Big Panda is almost the most famous animal in the world. Only its species is constantly disappearing and that's why it was listed in the Red Book.

Usually panda moves only with the help of paws, of which she has four. And she also wanders from one side to the other and many people think that it wobbles with the wind. Of course, they can also run, but only for short distances.

Panda is a night animal. But it usually sleeps during the day in a place where nobody can disturb it. Mostly it can be a hollow of a tree.
And when night falls, the panda is cheerful and cheerful and ready for the deeds. She likes to eat more than anything else in the world, and that's what she does almost all night. With the help of food, she maintains her body weight. Although this animal is a predatory animal, it mainly eats leaves, bamboo or kidneys and stems. It takes about sixteen hours to digest food. In some cases, panda can eat mushrooms, flowers, roots, tubers or grass. And if it is near the river, it can taste delicious, nourishing and young fish.
Every three years, one female panda will have one calf each. Of course, there are some cases when several cubs are born in one female at a time. Only the mother tries to give the most time to just one calf, and the rest try to survive on their own.
The cubs are born blind, wet and can't do anything. One calf can weigh up to one hundred and fifty grams. But the weight and height they gain very quickly, they need only a month. After a few months, they get black spots. Two months later, they begin to see the world with their own eyes.
