Lions of this family are much smaller in height and weight.

Lions that have lived in the same area for a long time are united into families. They are called Pride marches. At the head of such a Pride is always a male, he has special privileges. Despite the fact that food is always obtained by lionesses, the leader of the pack is the first to start eating prey. Females join him, and the rest of the food goes to the young women. The lion family usually has one lion and several lionesses. When young lions grow up, they go in search of females to start a new family.

Little lions are born helpless and blind. From birth they eat their mother's milk, but after 7 months they switch to meat food. Almost all lions are very playful and active, they can jump, jump and throw for hours. Adult lions prefer to hunt large animals. They like to eat zebras, deer and antelopes. The animal has very strong legs and fangs about 8 cm, which helps him to hunt, because the lion is a predator, which occupies the upper position in the food chain.

Lions can be dark brown, light yellow or grey. The lion is inferior to the lion in size and has no mane. An adult male may weigh up to 250 kg and reach a length of 2.5 m. The number of lions decreases due to climatic changes, animal diseases and human intervention, as well as the reduction of natural habitats. Conflicts with humans are most often caused by predators attacking livestock. But there are known cases of lions attacking people, some cannibal lions killed more than 35 people. Lions compete with hyenas for food and often attack them, sometimes lions attack other cats' cubs.

These animals are record-breaking resting animals, to which they devote about 20 hours a day. They hunt more often at night, mostly lionesses, as they move more easily and faster. Male hunters are strongly hindered by mane, because it is quite heavy and causes overheating. Their main diet consists of zebras, buffalo and warthogs. Each animal needs to eat 5-7 kg of meat per day. But they can eat 30 kg at a time, and then rest for a long time.

Lions live in groups - Pride marches, including several females with lions and one male who protects them. Mature males aged 2-3 years are expelled from the Pride. They roam alone until they take over the Pride.

The lion has no natural enemies because of its size, except for the Nile crocodile. That's why they call him "the king of animals". But animals sometimes die in fights with each other because of the march.
