The Singapore Zoo, in fact, is a set of large fenced areas where animals can move freely, showing themselves in the eyes of visitors. The area is located on a peninsula of 28 hectares and surrounded by rich vegetation, extended up to the waters of the Upper Seletar Reservoir. Singapore Zoo is home to many animals, first of all orangutans.
Thanks to The Fragile Forest you can immerse yourself in an incredible environment. Here, in fact, the rainforest is reproduced in a riot of butterflies, parakeets, bats and cat lemurs. An easy route will take you to the vault of the forest, where you can observe the tridactyl sloths in all their tranquility.
Moving to the Great Rift Valley you will meet other beautiful animals: baboons, Nubian ibex, wrapper jackals and striped mongooses, which present themselves in all their beauty. Some reproductions of Ethiopian villages are also very interesting. Walking in this area you will realize the not simple conditions of life in this part of the world.
The Singapore Zoo reserves an area of pure fun even for the little ones. The Rainforest Kidsworld is, in fact, an area full of slides, boats and swings, where children can play in all cheerfulness, climbing on ponies or feeding some animals. And finally giving yourself a nice dip in the pool.
Near the Zoo, although completely detached, you will find the famous Night Safari to visit, nenache to say, at night! More than a hundred animal species are present here.
Moving in the dark, you will have the impression of walking in a real jungle, of which tigers, leopards and alligators are the main protagonists.
The Tour At Night Safari, is carried out on board a "tram" and in the company of a guide who provides information about the park and animals. Being on board you can, in fact, admire several species. Antelopes in particular, approach visitors without too much shyness.
Going down to the East Lodge Trail, you can walk along several trails, reaching areas not approachable by motor vehicles. Here there are many interesting areas, such as the cages that allow you to observe the beautiful giant flying squirrel.
The beautiful nature reserve of Bukit Timah
The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is just a short bus ride from the city centre. A lush strip of primary forest where you can admire many species of birds and cinomolgo macaques. Five hiking trails cross the reserve, which covers 163 hectares. One of the simplest routes allows you to reach the summit of Bukit Timah, the highest hill in Singapore.
Need tranquility and nature? Singapore Botanic Gardens!
One of the quietest and most regenerating places in the city is the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where you can take a look through rolling meadows, lakes and themed gardens.
Here the first attraction are orchids, grown since 1928 and now housed in the three hectares of the National Orchid Garden, the largest collection of orchids in the world.
For a romantic walk inside the Singapore Botanic Gardens, we recommend Swan Lake: one of the three lakes where you can admire the mute swans, imported from Amsterdam.
In the southern part of the city, another opportunity to experience nature in Singapore is provided by Mount Faber Park, which owes its name to the homonymous mountain, the most significant point of the entire area.
Here you will have two alternatives to access its summit: by cable car, enjoying a completely spectacular view, or on foot, crossing a rainforest interrupted only by the presence of beautiful colonial-era bungalows.
Starting from Kent Ridge Park, after a short path suspended between the trees you will arrive at Hot Park. Here will be the themed gardens, games for children and streams to give you a perfect opportunity to relax. A leaf-shaped bridge across Alexander Rd will then take you to Forest Walk. Another path that develops at the height of the treetops will take you to Telok Blangah Hill Park. And here it will take the name of Henderson Waves, thanks to a walkway with a wavy shape that runs over the vegetation. The last section of the route will take you to the top of Mount Faber. The path is a bit more challenging, but the labors are paid off by the panorama!
Sentosa Island is a real paradise for those looking for fun. In addition to shows, shops and restaurants, here you can admire one of the largest aquariums in the world-the S. E. A. Aquarium. Over 800 species of sea creatures are housed here, and as many as 49 habitats in Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia are recreated.
