A walk with a puppy. We walk correctly.

There"s a puppy in the house. As usual, after all the first raptures associated with his appearance, sooner or later there will be a task to teach him to "do things" in the street. Every other puppy"s owner who has a dog in his house for the first time asks me this question.

I advise you to do simple and logical things and avoid the most common mistakes.

Let"s think about it for a minute: when does a puppy "do things" most often? Well, of course, after he wakes up and almost immediately after eating. So I advise right after the baby woke up take him outside and stand in one place and just wait until he"s "pressed" and happy to empty his bladder. Then, contrary to popular belief, he will go straight home!

The most common mistake of beginners is a long walk with a puppy! The kid gets carried away, is distracted, forgets what he came out for, comes home and. .. blows at home! Some of them rush to the apartment and run to the diaper, because I want to go to the toilet))))

That"s why the basic principle of puppies" walking from three to about four months is "often but little by little". Sometimes my walks with a new puppy would go as far as six or seven times a day. The very last time was very late, just before everyone went to bed. And the very first one in the morning - ideally, the owner should be dressed with a leash in his hands five minutes before he wakes up. It"s a joke, of course, but every joke has its share of the truth. So, often, from three to four months, it"s a small joke!

From four months baby can be taken for longer walks and meet friends.

Now - attention! Don"t look for your puppy"s company! Up to six months, the best partner for your dog to play with is you. Don"t forget that puppy friends will not only teach your puppy good manners, but also bad manners. And don"t be surprised how an intelligent puppy with "royalty parents" has a disgusting habit of lying around in the garbage.

So - you and the dog, the dog and you! Play with the puppy, get used to the item tray. Choose not deserted places, but not crowded areas, of course. The place to walk should be safe on one side, not isolated from the city sounds, people and animals on the other. All your pockets at this stage will be filled with all sorts of things: a ball in one, a laser pointer in the other, a treat in the third, a rope in the fourth, etc. , depending on the number of pockets. Never stand in one place with a dog! It is at the very time when the dog is left to himself that all the worst thoughts come to his mind! It is necessary for you to be distracted yes though and on a phone call, all! Happy pet comes out of the bushes with chicken bone in his teeth.

So, we learn: from about four months onward, your puppy should clearly understand that a walk = game!

For about six months from now, I"ve been introducing a special puppy walk.

That is, twice a day we walk as usual, and once (more often in the afternoon) - twenty-minute "driving" on a leash with a sports step. Ideally not on asphalt. The best way to do it is by a buried dirt track. Oh, yes, where can we get it. ..

Asphalt, unfortunately, is very hard and does not cushion in any way, unlike the ground. Therefore, more than forty minutes in I don"t even walk on the pavement with grown-ups and dogs.

So: since six months - walking with a puppy sports step on a leash as an additional walk.

Let"s make it clear: you are going to take a sports step, the dog is going to trot. Do not confuse))))))

A puppy needs to be released off the leash. Of course in a safe place. Of course, you should understand that your puppy will come back to you on a call, which means he should already be able to do it (I don"t use the word "team" because the team is something else).

A puppy won"t run looking for friends, if he"s interested in you, remember that. Big breed puppies are even more clumsy than yours. Such a giant miracle will not come from evil, but to you in the vet. Especially "dangerous" in this respect are numerous nowadays Labradors - good-natured and clumsy ears with a nice smile will hurt and go on - there is only one but worth it))))

The leash is a painful question. Many and many people now use roulette leashes and yes, it is a good tool for the city. But for me, a roulette dog is always an uneducated dog+lazy host.

I don"t want to offend anybody, I know a lot of trainers who have beautiful dogs and take them on roulette, but I can"t do anything about it. Roulette is both good and evil at the same time. It"s not just a leash, it"s a pretty specific tool you need to be able to handle!

Unfortunately, I know several cases when dogs died under the wheels (being on roulette) only because the owner forgot to "lock" the cord. Well, he is the leash! Our teachers said that "the leash is a continuation of the hand" of the trainer.
