Traditional Chinese costume colour scheme

Many people know the achievements of Buddhists and Taoists in the field of correction of human psychosomatics. But not everybody knows that in pre-Buddhist China Confucius developed and described ways to correct the psychophysical state of man with the help of clothing, its cut, colour, ornament and ornaments with occult symbolism ...

These principles formed the basis of the Chinese national costume. But since the reasonable rule in China was not always (during the Ming Dynasty, many of the knowledge in this area were lost), the principles of the ritual binary Chinese costume were almost forgotten. They were taken very seriously in Buddhism and Taoism.

So, there was a costume. Since it was the ritual costume and the oldest in the family of Chinese national costumes, it was very much respected. It was something to be proud of because it was created by the great sages of the Celestial Empire and worn by the Son of Heaven (Emperor) himself. The costume was similar to the temple, as the symbolism of its structural system was very similar.

From the ancient Eastern legend, we know about the existence of Mount Sunshine or Kunlun. It served as a link between Heaven and Earth. From here - often found the image of the mountain on the patterns of clouds, surrounded by twelve grains of rice (the symbol of the dependence of agriculture on the twelve months of the year and the twelve constellations of the Zodiac).

The dragon is considered to be the lord of rain and the embodiment of "yang" (Heaven). "Yang" merges with the element of "yin" (water) - the dragon depicted soaring in the clouds, playing a flaming pearl, giving birth to lightning. The dragon, like the rain, is a symbol of the union of Heaven and Earth.

The interaction of the two opposing origins is the cause of the cycle of five elements, each of which had its colour and season. This was the basis of colour symbolism in clothing, which became the state ritual in the days of Confucius. The elements of the tree corresponded to green (spring), red (summer), white (autumn), and black (winter). The festivities that existed in China for each new season of the year took place in an atmosphere where the entire courtyard and all government officials were obliged to wear clothes of the colour that corresponded to the season of the year.

The holiday of the end of summer, when the bread ripened, was considered a holiday of the Earth. The symbolic colour of this holiday was yellow. The existence of other shades and other colours was explained by the alternation of five elements on the principle of mutual "conquest": fire "conquers" (melts) the metal - red and white give pink, metal chopped wood - white and green give turquoise, etc.

In addition to colour symbolism, there was a system of allegorical images of animals and birds, which in addition to the ideological had also a social meaning. Civil ranks were marked with symbols of various birds, and military - with symbols of animals in a hierarchical order.

Colour in the state symbols of Yakutia

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has a coat of arms and a national flag corresponding to its status. The blue colour on the coat of arms, per international symbols, means honour, loyalty, reliability and sincerity. White and silver - the favourite colours of the Sakha also correspond to the generally accepted notions of the purity of people's feelings and thoughts. Dark red, borrowed from rock paintings, is attractive to the eyes in itself.

Colours of a flag corresponding to the standard symbolical values of colours in the international practice. And they are suggested by geographical and climatic peculiarities and historical and cultural traditions of the region. According to Sakha mythology, they consider themselves "children of the white sun". On the flag immediately draws attention to the white sun at the zenith against the background of a huge blue sky. Underneath them are narrow stripes of white, red and green.

The snow-white stripe combined with the sun on the background of the blue sky reveals the severe beauty of the North, extreme conditions of people's lives, the purity of morals and thoughts of the peoples united by the North. The green colour is a symbol of fertility, revival, a symbol of friendship and brotherhood. This is a short bright summer, the colour of taiga expenses, as well as the embodiment of the Turkic origin of the Sakha people, who gave the name to the republic. The red colour is not only a symbol of vital forces but also a symbol of beauty and loyalty to the native land. Inclusion of red colour in combination with white and green is typical for the folk applied art of Yakutia.
