Wind mills were always used to grind flour and other grains. Even animal feed was grinded with windmills. Strange as it may seem, windmills served as a good help in processing wood.

But in our technological age, when most processes are automated, windmills have become unnecessary. But, nevertheless, on any site the windmill will look rather picturesque, attracting simplicity of a design and primitive color. After all, the windmill may not be so large - you can always build a reduced decorative copy on the site.

Why build a windmill?

Do not assume that the windmill can be built only as a landscape decoration. It is quite possible to build a small exact copy to decorate the playground. Undoubtedly, the windmill can also be used as a wind turbine, although its efficiency is in question. In any case, the presence of a windmill should not be considered as a reduction of any costs - for electricity, materials and other things. This can take many times longer, which does not make the mill a profitable building. Such a construction is just an element of decoration of your site and the landscape as a whole. You can make the most of it only by using the building as a children's home.

We build the mill ourselves

In principle, the construction of a windmill, like any other building, can be divided into several stages. It gives the chance not only to erect and build correctly, but also to make it truly multifunctional.

Necessary materials and tools.

The windmill can be built not only of wood, but also of plastic, plywood and metal - from any material, up to a combination of several. But for a classical construction it is better to take a bar, a roofing board, a wooden board, polyethylene and plywood.

No matter how decorative our construction is, the foundation for it still has to be laid, at least insignificantly. And as tools are quite suitable those that are at hand - a drill, hammer, planks, buckets, brushes, grinder, hacksaw.

Choice of a place for a mill.

Even at a decorative mill blades can rotate, and it means that the landscape on which the mill will be built, should be released from various kinds of additional buildings and obstacles to ensure the normal operation of the blades. In addition, the surface should be flat, so that the structure is not skewed at the stage of construction.

Once you have decided on the location of the building, it is necessary to remove all garbage from the area, as well as free it from weeds and other vegetation. If you have free space of about twenty squares, you can start construction at any time convenient for you.

The base of the mill.

The basis is the foundation, which can be a properly folded bar or several logs - it is not necessary to dig a hole and pour the solution. After determining the size of the base, the frame for the mill is installed, then duplicated by a smaller size, from the inside of the building. Thus, reducing the initial structure by half, you get a trapezoidal shape of the structure.

Internal and external frames are connected by vertical racks, going at a certain angle. Installation of the racks starts with the lower outer frame. As a result, you will get a "skeleton" of the mill.

We sew the mill.

Covering the windmill should be done taking into account the door and window openings, as well as the place of installation of the blades. Do not forget that for the installation of doors requires additional fasteners, and to strengthen the beam with blades - an additional beam.

You can insulate with any material, which will make the construction hermetically closed from all sides. Of course, the color will add wood cladding.
The combination cladding consists of a board nailed to the front of the mill and the plywood that covers the back wall.

How to install the roof?

There is no strictly defined form of roof for the mill. This can be either a flat and straight roof or an angled roof. For waterproofing it is necessary to put first the roofing membrane and then the roof made of wood or plywood is assembled.

Mill blades.

The blades are the main element of your design. But, since the windmill serves only as a decoration of the site, they can be made of lighter material, which is not able to create enough power to rotate the wheel inside the mill. It will be enough to have two axes mounted crosswise, covered with a board. The size of the blades should be proportional to the mill installed.

Thank you for your attention, everybody.
