The truth about the warm water floors.

Part 1 There are many myths and misconceptions about warm floors. They are quite diverse. I will take a look at the main ones that I constantly face. 1.1 Floors without radiators is not enough. This myth has real roots. Previously, 15-20 years ago, few people thought about insulating the house, the typical wall material was brick, or at best a pocket block. Part 1

There are many myths and misconceptions about warm floors. They are quite diverse. I will take a look at the main ones that I constantly face.

1.1 Floors without radiators is not enough.

This myth has real roots. Previously, 15-20 years ago, few people thought about insulating the house, the typical wall material was brick, or at best a pocket block. The windows were simple, the roof was insulated with 5 cm of glass wool. And the floors... the floors were sometimes not insulated at all or fell asleep 10-30 cm of Claudine. The heat loss of such houses was usually in the range of 120-180 W/m2 (for a cold five-day period in the central region).

When fashion came to the floors, they were very much installed without taking into account the loss of the building. And all their attempts to warm the house in the cold ended in failure. I had to turn on the batteries.

Now, the average, I repeat, the average house has losses in the range of 50-70W/m2 for a cold five-day stay. Here is a typical example of a modern house.

And such houses are already heated with warm floors without any problems. According to my design practice, only 2-3% of modern houses have losses above 100W/m2 and cannot be heated exclusively by floors. It is an interesting fact that all these houses were made of wood.

There can be a fair comment here, but what about JV 60.13330.2012 "Heating, ventilation and air conditioning" n 6.4.8 where the maximum floor temperature is limited to 26 g or 72W/m2 at 20 g C, wherefrom 100W/m2? The point is that the need for maximum heating for a cold five-day period is infrequent, or rather once every 12 years. And shorter drops of temperature the house extinguishes at the expense of own inertia. Therefore, 1-2 days a year, when the floors will exceed the recommendations of WHO and SP by 1-3 grams is quite acceptable.

1.2 Warm floors are for the "South" only.

This is a variation of the first myth. The logic here is as follows. In the south, the climate is warmer and the temperature is higher and losses are lower. The floors can already be enough, but in the north, there is no way.

If we consider the problem, in essence. It is possible or impossible to heat up warm floors is determined solely by losses, and depends directly on the insulation. There are no problems to build a house heated exclusively by warm floors on the Oymyakon. As well as to build a house in Krasnodar, which does not have enough warm floors. Everything determines the loss (insulation).

I have done a lot of projects for the south and for the north of our country. And now in

Krasnodar is absolutely normal to build a house out of a shell without insulation at all. R = 0,8-1,2 and in Yakutia, Chelyabinsk, etc., the walls of the floor and ceiling make with insulation in 200 mm stone wool R>4,5 and the windows are very warm put. And in the end, it turns out that almost all the houses I made for the north are "warmer" than those for the south. Here is such a paradox.

The warm floor burns the heels.

This myth, which is not a myth at all, directly grows from poor quality insulation. Warm floors are low-temperature heaters. With the maximum comfortable heat emission in the region of 100 W/m2 if the losses are higher, and there are no radiators the only option is to raise the floor temperature. Here and lift, sometimes very essentially. Up to 35-37 g.

Hence, the feelings.

Normal "warm floor" does not burn the heel. The standard temperature of a warm floor is 25-27 grams of heat. Feels like a slightly warm floor. No more.

3.1. It is impossible to have TP under laminate or linoleum it does not warm up.

Losses on laminate are about 2-2.5 g. Therefore, all you need to do is raise the temperature in the pipes to the same 2-2.5 gr.

3.2. Warm flooring is not allowed under the laminate or linoleum it will spoil.

It is difficult to say that it is a myth. Previously, there used to be laminate flooring, which was not a good friend with a temperature above 25g. Now the whole laminate keeps the temperature up to +30-32 grams. And the presence of a badge warm floor is no more than marketing.

Okay, surface 27, and how much will it be on the bottom? Yes, the same 2.5 degrees.

4. I want 25gr in the room, and how will I warm up the floor he himself a little warmer.

I hear quite often from people about such a desire. And the first question is. And when do you want +25 in summer or winter? The answer is always the same - in winter. Why is that?!

The answer lies in our physiology.

You can easily conduct the experiment right now. Go out to the balcony barefoot, and then in warm slippers. Actually, this is the answer to why you need +20 in summer and +25 in winter. It is a cold floor. The feeling of heat depends very much on the temperature of your feet. Cooler floors +18 in winter make you overheat the room for this reason.
