1. The Split is a lovely family drama with "notes" of law. The series will tell about the family Defo (authoritarian mother and three daughters), in which all women are complex, controversial and ambiguous. Mom, Rutt Defoe, raised three daughters alone. Her husband Oscar escaped with his secretary long ago, and more girls have heard nothing about him. During this time, Rutt has managed not only to raise her daughters, but also to organize a law firm from scratch, which over time has become one of the best firms in divorce proceedings. Hannah's eldest daughter and middle Nina, also lawyers, worked side by side with their mother to help the family business thrive and expand. But when it was time for Rutt Defoe to step back and hand over the family business to Hannah's eldest daughter, Rutt changed her mind. Hannah stood up and went to her competitors, well aware that sooner or later she would have to meet her relatives on different sides of the barricades in court. The dust of excitement hadn't settled down yet after Hannah's departure to another firm, as Oscar-pops had done in the city. Thirty years later, he suddenly remembered that he had grown beautiful daughters, decided to reconcile with the girls and reestablish family relations.
Once again, the British proved that they are great at mixing styles and genres in one "glass", in order to treat us to a great cocktail. The secret of "drink" is both simple and folded at the same time. We take 2/3 of the drama - the return of the prodigal father, treason and all that is associated with it, to push his foreheads in court, mother and daughter during complex divorce proceedings, twist the love triangle ... A huge human "Mercy" writer for the sense of proportion. Nothing was aggravated, compressed, dragged out and painted in gloomy minor tones. Real and everyday situations turned out to be on the screen, which can easily get into any of us.
Further, we do not forget that the series about lawyers, so we add one part of professional cases to "2/3 dramas". A couple or three divorces will have to come to court in the right way - and the drama will be diluted and added spice.
And we decorate all this with original English humor, sarcasm, and self-irony. Didn't you miss anything? Of course, I missed the opportunity to name the heroes who invented this wonderful story. Abi Morgan (Iron Lady, Suffragette, River) and Louise Ironside (Call the Midwife, Tunnel).
Already it's time to sing the praises of actors?) Nicolas Walker (Unforgotten, Ghosts, River) is convincing in the role of Hannah, but to get used to her appearance. She is more of a "man in a skirt" than a fatal beauty and lady of men's hearts. Previously watched the series with her participation (so I treat her appearance normally), and Nicolas played everywhere on the "male field", acting as a detective, spy, investigator. I was wondering if she would be in the role of a lawyer or still a lawyer?) Imagine, it turned out to be a very nice lawyer ... but at the amateur. Her sister Nina was played by the beautiful Anabelle Shawley (Britain, Medici: Lords of Florence, Jane Eyre). That's how some parents can have such different children? Yes, Mother Nature loves such fordele.
Where did I end up? Oh, yes, it is time, to sum up. Summarizing - the breakup turned out to be an unusual series for us about lawyers. This is more a story of family, relationships, kinship, resentment, forgiveness, and love. It's a good story, a life story. Let's wait for the second season.

2. Black Earth Rising is a political British mini-series. Introduction: International Criminal Court prosecutor Eva Ashby adopted a Tutsi girl from Rwanda years ago. The girl miraculously survived the mass shooting of her village's inhabitants. She grew up to be Kate Ashby, a British citizen, and an educated adult woman, working as an investigator for a law firm led by Michael Ennis.
"This is not a fairy tale, but a fairy tale to come".
Let's start from a distance. In 1994, the leader of the rebel army, General Simon Nayamoya, stopped the genocide in Rwanda (in a short period of time, the Hutu tribe exterminated more than half a million Tutsis) and became a national hero. However, the general "played the war" and a quarter of a century later there was no trace of the former hero. At the moment, he is a Congolese mercenary, fomenting constant military conflicts, based on the natural wealth stolen in the mines of the region on the territory of the Congo, and generally what the devils do. He has been prosecuted for war crimes. The case will be heard by The Hague International Criminal Court and Eva Ashby has been appointed as prosecutor in the case. This is where the conflict arises. Kate (for whom Simon Nayamoya is still a hero) is in shock. Eve is going to accuse the man who saved her people in due time by stopping the senseless bloodshed and massacres of civilians. But the mother prosecutor is firm in her intentions. The general must answer to the law for the crimes he has committed in the last quarter of a century.
Cases where the evidence of crimes has long been buried under a thick layer of lies and political collisions cannot go smoothly as "by the book". It is not easy to get to the truth after so many years, especially if there are "the powers that be" who do not want the truth to come to light.
I call such a series "series of reflection". There will be many questions in the series - and who needs this truth many times? Why do we need it? Who remembers what it was like? Those who gave orders to the decrepit old people, living through their centuries, should they be called to account? Why does White Brother always go where he is not asked?
I won't even try to evaluate the show. Read carefully - Rwanda, Congo, genocide, international military court, it even sounds "adult". Heavy, specific, politicized series on the amateur.
