Software: Still the best in the industry
Although one plus camera hardware is slightly behind Huawei and Oppo, in terms of software, one plus is already far ahead. One plus oxygen system is the best Android skin on the market, and many commentators agree with me that it is even better than Google's own Android.
So why is oxygen so good? It is the fastest and most customizable software experience available. At the respective events hosted by Google and Apple, the new "Dark Mode" feature of the new Android and iOS triggered a round of applause. One plus has been offering this service since at least 2015. This phone has almost no inflator. The built-in fingerprint reader is currently the fastest, and even third-party vendors admit that this is the result of a plus software optimization. The list goes on.
Confusingly, one plus has never offered a one-handed mode – narrowing the screen to smaller sizes by gestures – and this is becoming problematic here because the 7 Pro is one of the biggest phones on the market. . I can still make use of it, but I hope that OnePlus will solve this problem in the next version.
Camera: The basic principle is correct, but it is not good enough on professional lenses.
As I mentioned before, the 7 Pro's camera is mostly very good, and you can take some very beautiful photos, which is enough to compete with Apple and Samsung's best products, the iPhone XS and the Samsung Galaxy S10.
A normal photo taken in daylight produces a pleasing effect. 7 Pro's shutter speed is fast (during the day), the camera app is easy to use even with just one hand, and OnePlus' color science makes me very satisfied, neither as saturated as Samsung nor as Huawei That is too much processing and "cold".
Wide-angle cameras have done an admirable job in reducing barrel distortion, and are always useful for capturing photos that cannot be captured by ordinary lenses. Portrait/Bokeh shooting and video recording are also point-edge detection is great for the former and the video is stable and smooth all the way up to 4K/30fps.
For the most part, the basic principles of the 7 Pro camera are correct. Ordinary smartphone users won't complain - the selfie looks good; the photos look fresh during the day; the portraits look clean.
But if I am nitpicking, I can easily point out where the 7 Pro camera is not enough in the competition. I was very disappointed that the wide-angle camera couldn't shoot the video. Night shooting can produce real scenes, but it can't reach the level of Google Pixel 3 or Huawei P30 Pro. The 7 Pro's night mode, called Nightscape, is confusingly contradictory.
Sometimes night scenes work very well, improving the dynamic range and lighting of the image.
At other times, such as the photo taken at the Apple Global Developer Conference venue, it will be slightly less effective.
After using Oppo Reno's epic zoom feature, the 3x zoom of the telephoto lens makes you feel bland. It is commendable that the zoom lens doubles as a useful macro lens to capture impressive close-ups.
Considering that Oppo and Iga have a close relationship, I very much hope that I can implement Oppo's periscope zoom lens on this phone. I have a feeling that OnePlus will do this in the next version.
Display
One plus 7 Pro starts at $660 in the US and starts at roughly the same price in many parts of the world. In China, it is cheaper, starting at 3,999 yuan ($578). Unsurprisingly, there has been disagreement over the acceptance of one-plus pricing. In the US, Apple and Samsung are increasingly becoming duo, and the price of the 7 Pro $660 is considered to be very cost-effective. However, in Southeast Asia, especially India, this price has been strongly opposed.
One plus 7 Pro is indeed the most expensive one plus phone ever, but this phone is also the company's first true flagship hardware. Previous IPlus phones used hardware that was recycled from existing Oppo devices. The 7 Pro is the first independent operation of a Plus phone, and this 90Hz OLED screen requires the company to make specific adjustments and software development. For me, this is the next step in the development of the true flagship field.
However, if you don't care about the 90Hz screen at all, there are many other cheaper options, the best of which is a sister company. Take Realme X as an example. It has the same 48-megapixel Sony sensor as OnePlus, the same full-screen design, the same built-in scanner, and the phone starts at $270. The other is the Oppo Reno 10X, which is slightly more expensive than the 7 Pro, but it's telephoto lens is significantly better and can capture stunning zoom lenses.
So yes, there is better value, a better camera. But I think the 7 Pro is in the middle, and the industry's best screen and software experience provides a compelling example.
