The platoon commander's work procedure for preparing for the task in intelligence depends on the specific conditions of the current situation, especially the light time. With the receipt of a combat mission for action in intelligence, the commander of the MTV conducts the following activities:
Checks the time with the company commander's clock;
It understands the received combat mission, i.e. determines the role of the platoon in obtaining the most complete data about the enemy and the influence of completeness, timeliness and accuracy of these data on the successful solution of the combat mission by the expelled commander;

The platoon commander's work procedure for preparing for the task in intelligence depends on the specific conditions of the current situation, especially the light time. With the receipt of a combat mission for action in intelligence, the commander of the MTV conducts the following activities:

Checks the time with the company commander's clock;
It understands the received combat mission, i.e. determines the role of the platoon in obtaining the most complete data about the enemy and the influence of completeness, timeliness and accuracy of these data on the successful solution of the combat mission by the expelled commander;
briefly calculates the amount of time available from the moment the mission is received to the time the platoon is ready for reconnaissance, determining how much time is available to prepare the platoon (dark and light), how much time is needed and how much time is left for subordinate commanders to work (most of the time should always be left for subordinates to work). In all cases, it is necessary to allow time for subordinates to rest before going on reconnaissance;
determines the measures that need to be taken immediately (replenishment of ammunition, refueling of fuel and lubricants, inspection and maintenance of material parts and radio stations, their conversion to new frequencies, cleaning, lubrication and gun pointing of weapons, receipt of food, medical equipment);
assesses the situation (enemy, neighboring reconnaissance units, platoon capacity with dowry, terrain, season and day); each of the points is assessed on the principle of “facts — conclusions — measures”;
makes a decision on intelligence, gives a combat order, where he sets tasks for subordinate dowry units, as well as organizes interaction between them;
Controls the execution of orders given to them;
controls the work of the least experienced squadron (crew) commander and assists him in his work;
Accepts a report on intelligence readiness;
checks the readiness of the platoon and in due time reports to the senior commander (chief) on the readiness of the platoon to perform a combat mission.
Clarification of the mission and assessment of the situation by the commander of the RC.

In understanding the mission and assessing the situation, the commander of the RC should understand and focus on the main issues:

Where the main group of the enemy is and what the main group of the enemy is doing in the direction of the upcoming platoon operations by the time the reconnaissance begins;
What intelligence and when to get a watch;
Where and by when to complete the reconnaissance, when and where to report the findings and what to do after the mission;
Explore the map of the area in the direction of the upcoming activities, and map the route of the main sentinel forces;
determine the marching order of the sentinel and the order of movement of its individual elements at different borders and terrain;
Define tasks, routes of movement, objects of site inspection and the order of actions of sentinel vehicles (departments, foot patrols) during the reconnaissance;
Determine the lines of probable encounter with the enemy and the order of sentinel actions at each line.
In the combat order, the platoon commander indicates.

Information about the enemy;
reconnaissance direction (object), patrol task, its marching order and time of passing the starting point;
tasks to departments and means of strengthening;
Platoon readiness for the task, time and place of the beginning and end of reconnaissance;
his place and deputy.
After giving the combat order, the platoon commander indicates.

The order of action of the sentinel and sentinel wards (foot sentinels) before and during the meeting with the enemy;
the order of organization and maintenance of communication within the sentinel and with the senior commander who sent out the sentinel;
Signals of notification, control, interaction and procedure of actions on them;
Information about the neighboring and operating units in front;
Methods and signals of mutual identification of their troops;
the order of passing the front line of their troops, pass and recall;
Tasks performed by means of support in the interests of the sentinel by the decision of the senior commander who sent out the sentinel.
The platoon commander assigned to the RC should keep in mind that it is better to explain the task carefully to the platoon personnel and how to accomplish it before going into reconnaissance than to do it during its promotion in a difficult situation.
