Nowadays everyone knows that cheetah belongs to the cat family and is also the fastest cat in the world. According to dozens of measurements of scientists, the cheetah can reach a speed of one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour in just three seconds. From here it is clear that cheetah will not just run, with such a frenzied speed. To do this, he needs a good incentive, for example, a lonely victim, which can be caught without problems. Cheetah lives on the hottest continent in Africa.
These animals have very good physique, which is covered with a good layer of muscles. The head is streamlined and quite small in size. The ears are of medium size and the eyes are as high as possible. Such a unique structure of the skeleton and physique, you need to quickly dial speed and braking. This is the only reason why these animals are able to develop such a high speed. The cheetah also has huge lungs, which allow you to saturate the blood with oxygen in sufficient quantities. The weight of the entire body of the animal is not significantly large, about seventy kilograms. The length of the body does not differ in any way. It is approximately one and a half meters long. The height of the four-legged legs is rarely more than one meter. At the end of the body there is a rather long tail, up to one meter long. At first glance, the legs look thin, long as if they were sick, but in fact they are very strong and enduring.
All people remember these animals because of their thick, bright yellow fur, and if you ever see this animal, you won't ever see it again. Yellow body cover is not on the whole body. Cheetah's belly is more white than black. There are also dozens of black spots on the body that resemble circles. The cheetah also has stripes on his face that start at the eyes and end at the mouth.
Cheetahs don't go hunting in the daytime, when the air temperature is very high. Most often they hunt early in the morning or late in the evening, as the bright sun does not blind their eyes. It is also worth noting that these predators do not have a very strong sense of smell. They only use their farsightedness and powerful legs when hunting. When the victim is found cheetahs do not start a quick attack. They start a slow pursuit, which develops into a fast pursuit. As a result, the victim is simply tired, and the cheetah to achieve it uses his fast legs.
This cat predator is rightly considered to be the best mammalian runner, as he is able to develop a truly stunning speed. The habitat of cheetahs is not wide. Rather, on the contrary, there are fewer and fewer of them. Therefore, it may be that very soon this animal will be listed in the Red Book. Cheetahs used to live in India, Pakistan, Russia and the Middle East, but now there are no more than 100 animals in the world.
By the way, Asian cheetahs are somewhat smaller than usual in size, have much shorter limbs, thicker necks and thinner wool. The survival rate of this subspecies is still quite low. It is extremely difficult for cubs to survive in the wild, so some scientists estimate the mortality rate of cheetahs as very high, which is understandable based on the number of these animals remaining at the moment.
Cheetahs are hunted by birds of prey, hyenas and many other animals, but most of them die from lion's teeth. Also frequent "friends" of these cats are diseases and, of course, humans. By the way, cheetah calves are actively caught and illegally sold in the Gulf countries.
Moreover, the number of hunters on these animals for sale is growing, because the price for one "kitten" is still quite serious - about 10 000 dollars.
In addition to his success in running, the cheetah is also a master of jumping - when the speed of his running becomes maximum, the predator can jump by 7 meters. But what this big cat doesn't know at all is how to roar, purr and make some other sounds.
The animal sees perfectly well in the dark, but does not climb trees well. Female cheetahs are busy mainly taking care of the cubs. It is worth noting that cheetahs are quite fertile - the number of kittens can reach nine in one litter. Every two days mothers go in search of food, leaving offspring alone. By the way, cheetah cubs usually do not have dads - females prefer to raise their offspring and take care of them on their own.
It's hard to understand why this happens, why big female cats don't trust "men" with the role of father and breadwinner, but it's a fact. Upon returning from the hunt, the mother usually moves the cubs to another place so that other predators could not find them by smell and somehow harm them.
In general, it can be said that the males of the cheetah are only necessary for the females to mate. After that, couples exist separately. Male cheetahs form groups of several individuals, which helps them survive in the wild. As a rule, these coalitions consist of brothers.
