The Amur tiger

The Amur tiger (also known as the Ussurian tiger) is the largest tiger species and the rarest fauna. The tiger is more than three metres long and reaches a height of one metre in the hills. It weighs more than 300 kg. The wool is very thick and lighter than other tiger species. The ornament of the drawing on his skin is unique. There is no tiger with exactly the same pattern in the world.

Predator has a beautiful color of skin: on a bright red background on the back and sides are placed transverse dark brown stripes. Such a bright color serves as a disguise to help him in hunting. Habitats are the banks of the Amur and Ussuri rivers flowing through the Far East. Hence the origin of the name tiger-Amur tiger. It is listed in the Red Book and is an endangered species. Hunting for it is prohibited. The Chinese are entitled to the death penalty for killing the Amur tiger.

The reasons for the extinction were deforestation in the animal's habitat and a decrease in the amount of tiger's fodder, as well as environmental degradation, but the main reason for the extinction was the mass poaching caused by hunting for the beautiful animal's skin.

Only this tiger species is able to survive any severe winter. Its skin becomes lighter in winter, thicker and very fluffy. He easily mastered life in the snow. His body structure helps him in this. The Amur tiger has wide legs with which he easily moves along high snowdrifts and snows in pursuit of his prey. Predator easily hunts even at night, his sight is 5 times better than that of a man. Having huge size, the tiger can't stand it. In order to get hold of the prey, he has to sneak up on it very close, and this is where the colouring helps, which merges with the dry grass. Amur tiger prefers to lead a single lifestyle. The borders of their territory, like all members of the cat family, are marked with urine.

The Amur tiger easily feeds itself not only by hunting, but also by fishing. When a fish goes for spawning, it catches it on mountain river crossings. Lack of vitamins in the body of the tiger fills up the vitamins, sometimes eating grass.

Reproduction takes place every two years. In spring, the tiger produces offspring. Usually 2-3 tigers are born. They are very similar to kittens, but larger in size. They are also blind without teeth. They feed on their mother's milk for up to two months. Then the tiger begins to carry them meat and when the tigers turn six months old they accompany their mother on the hunt. She patiently and thoroughly passes on all her experience to her offspring. All the difficulties the tiger faces alone, the male does not take any part in the upbringing of her offspring, although she often lives with them.

The Amur tiger lives in the wild for 16-18 years. Life expectancy in captivity is much longer than about 25 years.

Tigers have a huge power, they have nothing to carry carcasses weighing an ordinary horse, and with this burden, they can even jump. Tigers are very fast overtake them can only fast cheetah. The Siberian tiger has a very interesting and beautiful color. There are dark stripes in the back and beautiful red ones on the sides. The color is quite motley, but it does not prevent him from masquerading on the ground.

Tigers eat meat. Other animals serve as such food for them. The approximate rate per tiger is about 10 kg of meat. But in natural conditions tigers do not always get food for themselves. Sometimes it happens that the tiger walks cold for several days. But then, having obtained a prey, he can eat up to 30 kg of meat at once. One tiger kills and eats up to 50 to 60 large animals such as deer and wild boars per year.

While searching for food, tigers can walk up to 50 km. But mostly far from their usual place where they live, they try not to go far away. Tigers stock up on subcutaneous fat so that they can survive in winter, when it is very cold and there is almost no food. Tigers can even die in winter without food. The tiger lives in natural conditions for about 15 years, and can live in a zoo for up to 30 years. The tigers are very strong, so he doesn't have any special enemies, but only a big brown bear can cope with it.

Protecting tigers is a task not only for the state, but also for everyone who is not indifferent.
