What are the autumn-winter color trends 2019/2020? After the fashion week, Pantone selects the colors of the season and with the post of Thursday this week I answer Simona who asks me: "On the threshold of autumn you can give us an overview of Pantone colors of the season? Unfortunately, I've already seen around the first arrivals of tones all brown /ostart / ochre that to me personally (brown with pale color) are very bad ... I would like to find alternatives that are not eternal black! That said, done! Here they are.

Pantone divides the color palette in two: one of brighter and more garish shades and one of the more neutral and wearable tones, if you like, that can be useful to match the stronger ones. It goes without saying that the first ones are the ones that will be seen most in the windows and that will be more often featured in the newspapers. In this article, I'll show you some fashion show outfits that take up these very Pantone nuances and I'll give you some look ideas to wear them every day with combinations closer to our everyday lives.

Cranberry Red

It is a strong and bright red, with a cold shade (for those who have missed the explanation of warm and cold colors and their combination with our undertone, I refer you to this post of mine dedicated to how to match the colors to the complexion). Chanel on the catwalk combines it with black and white in the winter version in the hut (the parade was a crazy thing, they recreated a chalet with lots of snow on the ground ... incredible).

Merlot Red

This is also a technically cold red tone, but if it is correctly matched it is also very good on warm undertones: just light it up with warmer shades such as camel color or honey color, for example.

Red Summer Fig

Color that should remember the inside of the fig tree in summer (I assume, from the name). It's a beautiful warm and super-charged red, similar to a shade full of coral, that this autumn-winter will go a lot in the color block version (so from head to toe). My advice is to break it, to avoid a too bright effect.

Pink Crabapple

It's a warm pink. The Crabapple is the Japanese wild apple tree, which has flowers of this color (as suggested to me in the Enrica comments). It's a color that I find wonderful, but that risks falling into what I call the "coloring", those shades that tend to turn us off if we have cold undertones. If you love this color, break it with other shades and don't bring it close to your face, so choose a skirt or trousers rather than a blouse or dress.

Brown Chicory Coffee

It is a very dark brown, more suitable in my opinion for cold undertones, but that, if heated with warm colors can also be great for those who have warm undertones. I see it as wonderful combined with white or black, but also with blue and blue.

Blue Bluestone

It is a powder blue whose shade may vary depending on how it is combined: if you wear it with the warm tones of camel and honey it will become warmer, vice versa, with the brown you see on top or with burgundy it will be colder.

Blue Galaxy Blue

It's a warm blue, which I see very well broken with black or white, but also with brown and burgundy, like his brother above.

Antique Moos Yellow

It is an ochre yellow, particularly suitable for warm undertones, decidedly autumnal and beautiful worn with the shades of burgundy, brown and honey (less than the bright purple as the sleeve edges in the look of the photo below).

Green Forest Biome

It is a point of cold green, which I personally love, especially when combined with black, white and blue, but it is also very well embellished with a note of cold red, like burgundy.

Brown Hazel

It is a warm orange hazelnut brown, beautiful with ochre, red, but also powder blue and white. Obviously, avoid the total look as in the picture below, which could be a difficult hair.

Yellow Butterscotch

It's a warm yellow, which looks great with green, even the coldest Forest Biome type if you want to dampen it a bit. Otherwise, the perfect complements are brown, red and burgundy.

Purple Grapeade

It's a warm purple dot, which looks great with hazelnut and powder blue. Alternatively, you can break it with white or black.

Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 color trends: ideas for matching them

Now that we've seen them on the catwalk, here are some ideas on how to combine them in normal life. In principle, consider that all these colors can be broken with denim, white or black, becoming very wearable. My advice dispassionate, to avoid the carnival effect at Christmas, is to avoid the ton sur ton and never exceed 3 colors for each outfit because we are talking about shades all beautiful charges. And here's a roundup for you!
