Carpfishing is the catch of waiting. Everything that happens before, the preparation of the rods, the choice of the boilies, leads back to the moment when the Horn starts playing. At that moment the heart stops, the mind begins to travel. And here we are, in a leap, standing, ready to iron. So many expectations, so many dreams. Carpfishing is perhaps the fishing of Dreamers. Of those who while waiting think and do. There are those who build new frames, those who document themselves. Those spaces that seem empty and “unused” are actually not.
Nothing is left to chance. Carpfishing is a continuous test. The perpetual search for the right bait, the perfect combination of tastes. Often to this you have to add a good dose of luck. But if you hope to take something only with this last ingredient you are very wrong. As already mentioned above, this technique is a continuous research, a continuous evolution. Often being able to keep up with all these new lures, techniques and frames is not easy. I believe that to approach carpfishing you have to start from the basics. From those frames that always work, that in their simplicity we always know how to give satisfaction, no frills.
Carpfishing fishing equipment
The choice of equipment in this fishing can be very wide. We will then dwell exclusively on the necessary: rods , reels, fishing line and sinkers. The first ones differ in two standard sizes: 12 and 13 feet or 3.6 m and 3.9 m. the 12 feet are the so “called "everything to do", allow you to fish in most spots both in Still Water and in running water. The 13 feet allow us to make more important throws, but sacrificing slightly the handling.
In addition to the length the rods differ in their power, which is expressed in pounds. The more you climb with the latter, the more you can throw heavy leads. In any case I recommend rods around 3-3.5 pounds of power, to always have a multipurpose tool. As for the reels instead you can find on the market models designed for this fishing, equipped with 2 clutches, a classic to be used in combat and a "bite" (called bait runner), which will allow the fish, once allamate to escape without carrying the rod.
The size of the reel will be chosen based on where you will fish. Sizes 8000-10000 for lakes, canals and rivers of modest size to reach up to 12000-14000 if you fish over large distances. Why such generous dimensions? Because in coil are normally loaded nylon lines from 0.35 to 0.40 in diameter. That's because the fish we're going to pit might be large.
We finish with the sinkers, which will be placed in the final part of the fishing line, more precisely between the latter and the final. There are two types: lead in line, that is placed directly on the swivel connecting line and end and the lead to loose, that is the one located outside the main line through special clips that facilitate the release of lead in the case of stranded with obstacles.
Carpfishing frames
We contemplate so many , all more or less proven and effective, every year more and more complex and performing. But carpfishing was born with the simplest of all these, but above all always effective and contemporary: the hair rig or, more simply, I love with capello. With this terminal the hook is free from the bait that is instead fixed on the hair, that is the excess line placed beyond the hook.
The carp, during the feeding tends in fact to suck and spit the bait. It will be precisely at this last stage that the hook, thanks to its position, will sting the lower labro of the fish. To build this terminal we need: a braided wire, a hook with eyelet and a simple swivel. Now we will look at the construction step by step with the help of illustrative photos.
- Step 1-cut a piece of about 35-40 CM of braided 25-30 lbs and perform to a garment a small buttonhole of maximum 1 cm. After that, pass the thread from the side without the slot in the eyelet of the hook from the outside to the inside and pull up to leave the necessary space to trigger our bait 1.5-2 cm depending on the size of the latter (this surplus will be our hair).
- Step 2-Now you have to make the knot without knot by turning 6-8 times the thread around the stem of the hook starting from the eyelet to rise to the height of the tip, and return to the eyelet by re-entering the thread in the latter, always from the outside to the inside. We conclude by bringing the wire into tension to tighten the whole thing.
- Step 3-conclude our terminal by going to place a swivel measuring 8-10 with a simple clinch knot or a normal buttonhole.
- Step 4 - insert the appropriate needle into the center of the boilie and attach to the buttonhole of the hair.
- Step 5-slide the boilie from the needle to the terminal.
- Step 6-pull out the needle and stop the boilie on the buttonhole via the stopper or more commonly called Stop boilies.
