Take a look at your interior. Missed nothing? Perhaps you should, on the eve of spring, refresh it and add some extraordinary design objects to the furniture? If this is about your interior, then check out our review of furniture trends 2018 and a selection of photos of designer furniture. Modern designer furniture is a unique symbiosis of the functional component and appearance, which is amazing. In addition to the main task of designer furniture - to impress, there are no less current trends: the use of original, innovative materials and the integration of various gadgets into furniture. Comfort as an idea has become one of the most important components, therefore, modern designer furniture with all the richness of forms and materials must necessarily be convenient, functional and safe.

The styles of designer furniture are largely consistent with the general trends in the interior of 2018: the development of eco and Asian trends in modern style, extraordinary interpretations of minimalism, classics and boho, new facets of the loft, Scandinavian and marine styles. One of the main motives that dominate among modern design trends is the motive of nature. Indoor plants have become a well-established trend that is unlikely to leave us soon. For those who do not like to take care of houseplants - several branches of eucalyptus or palm leaves in a vase will enliven the space and give it freshness. The trend of various creative unions and collaboration of eminent designers with mass-market brands is also popular, generating a lot of extraordinary interpretations of familiar styles and increasing the availability and functionality of designer furniture.

Materials

The idea of ethical furniture, which is combined with a general eco-style and a tendency to conserve resources, has become popular. Custom-made designer furniture, even of the most elite brands, is increasingly being produced using textile and plastic for recycling and artificial leather and fur. I would like to pay special attention to wood in modern furniture. This material cannot be called innovative, but designer furniture made of wood is perhaps the most popular. In 2018, it is characterized by the desire to preserve the natural individuality of the material as much as possible: countertops and racks made of roughly processed whole saw cut, wood that retained part of the bark, slightly ragged, with traces of salt wind or wasted time, inserts with emphasized unique wood ornaments. It’s like an attempt to only slightly adapt natural materials to human needs. Designer furniture in an apartment or a country house combines natural primacy in appearance and built-in gadgets without which the life of a modern person is already unthinkable. Speakers and chargers at the head of the bed, Wi-Fi router in a rocking chair or solar panels in sun loungers. In contrast with the direction of eco, something else is developing: industrial design, which has found wide application in the field of furniture design. A game in the contrast of textures and materials came to the fore: raw concrete, transparent plastic and mirror-polished copper, marble and brass, river pebbles and chrome, sheepskin and velvet. Although polished copper and shiny chrome were listed in almost all reviews as an obsolete trend in decor, they found application as elements of furniture and, in contrast to wild stone and concrete, found a new, unexpected sound. Coffee tables, fancy chairs and armchairs made in such an unusual combination of materials are distinguished by their emphasized geometry of the form, the contrast of the massiveness and grace of the individual parts that make up a single harmonious structure and unusual combinations of different textiles. The most popular material of 2018 is velvet. Velvet furniture has found scope in almost all interior styles.

Color

Compared to the restrained and cool color that dominated in previous seasons, this year a predominance of warm and earthy tones is expected. Shades of tan and rust, tones of siena, terracotta, brick, peach, dark orange and watermelon red are the new favorites of designers. Especially popular is precisely watermelon red. It acts as both a background and an accent color. Emerald green, black forest and indigo became no less popular accent tones. Gray is still popular. The main range of interiors using gray is based on all kinds of combinations of its cold, muted shades with warm, but not catchy tones of wood and textile, and a red accent. Another interesting feature is the dullness, even the light powderiness of the textures, in contrast to the not too shiny gloss of monochrome surfaces.
