The big beginning

Hi-Fi - how much in this word ... When in the late 80's the first Japanese audio systems came to the USSR, it became fashionable to assemble complete sets with good sound. It's been a long time since then, and Hi-Fi audio systems have been used not only to listen to music but also to accompany movies and computer games. And most importantly, Hi-Fi is now available to virtually anyone. It's only a question of needs and sound quality.

Many people sooner or later face the need to improve the sound of their audio equipment. For most people, at some point there is not enough simple computer speakers: the bass is not enough, and the middle of the "liquid". And some of them have "outgrown" their current audio system and want to immerse themselves even deeper into the wonderful world of sound. In any case, we'll have to choose a new Hi-Fi audio system. But it's not that simple. As soon as you start to choose the right model, a truly grandiose waterfall of companies, characteristics, ranges, models and equipment falls on your head. On the one hand, it is good. But on the other hand - how to choose something?

It's hard to understand the huge market for Hi-Fi audio systems, but it's possible. The most important thing is to understand what you need, for what purpose you will use your system. The next step is to understand many simple technical parameters. That's all. Or rather, the preparatory stage has ended. And the most difficult thing is ahead, and not to get rid of it.

Different audio systems of different price levels, there are many variations in the selection of equipment, there are all kinds of technical characteristics. But only your ears can find the right audio system for you. The fact is that each of us perceives the sound in its way. Not only do we hear different purity ranges, but our habits and musical preferences also play an important role. So you have to go to the shops and listen, listen and listen again. Otherwise, you run the risk of pointing your finger at the sky and buying a system you won't be happy with. Another question is that the prices in the stores are usually higher. But nobody prevents you from choosing a system there, but to buy it on the Internet?

The first thing to do is to start parsing Hi-Fi audio systems, which consist of three main parts: a player, an amplifier and a speaker system itself. In this article, we will only talk about loudspeakers. The choice of a subwoofer is a separate big topic, and we will cover it in another article.

How do acoustic systems differ?

Do you have a long love story with Hi-Fi audio systems? Are you an audiophile who hears the most elusive frequencies? Can you afford the best?

If you haven't answered "yes" to any of these questions, you shouldn't rush straight to the best audio systems. Not even because you probably won't feel the difference in sound between the budget and the most expensive systems that audiophiles hear. And because the cost of the best systems starts at about $7,500. Are you ready to spend that kind of money? If not, it is better to start with the budget option. For a beginner in the world of Hi-Fi, a basic and middle-class system will be enough. And in time, you may understand the difference and decide to switch to a higher class system.

System as a whole

Having acquired very expensive acoustics and having connected it to a weak audio card, it is not necessary to expect a fantastic sound, but quite probably the occurrence of distortions. And vice versa, having bought the best amplifier on the market for cheap speakers, you just throw money away.

  • It is very important that all the links in the chain (amplifier - speaker system - subwoofer - switching) are properly combined.
  • First of all, all the equipment should be suitable for each other in terms of technical characteristics (for example, resistance).
  • Secondly, the equipment should be of the same class (example with built-in audio card and expensive acoustics).

Third, everything should be combined for a harmonious sound. If you're a beginner and don't know much about the audio market, it's better to buy a complete set from one manufacturer. So you won't miss it.

The basic concepts in the selection will be considered in the following statue.
