Shoes for autumn: what to wear

It's getting colder, we can't wear sandals anymore and we're starting to get colder even with dancers or spring shoes: that's one of the big dilemmas of this season!

Foreword

You know that I'm a good fit for simplicity: for me, when you have a few basic things in your wardrobe (which are the right ones though!), you can easily use the entire (often huge!) amount of our clothes. And for shoes? Here too, the same rule applies. Don't expect revelations on the road to Damascus: those who have been following me for a while are sure that they already know what I am going to advise you... but here are my must-have pieces declined in autumn key.

Shoes for autumn: the lace-up

She, my queen of the shoe rack for all four seasons! Autumn is the ideal time to wear lace-ups, especially if you are cold and fear in winter, that it won't keep your foot warm enough. How to match it? With everything! For me, it is one of those passe-partout garments (included in my basic garment capsules) that allow us to save any look. Try them with jeans to make them more elegant, with tweed trousers for an English look, with a skirt and tights (super opaque, I recommend!) for a normal working day. As a color I suggest black, but if in your autumn wardrobe you have a predominance of browns, greens, ochres, burgundy, you can also opt for a cognac color.

Shoes for autumn: the sneaker

Shoebox queens in second. Once the canvas ones have been archived, it's time to move on to the leather sneakers, or at least to a heavier model. If you can't use them in a working context, keep them for the weekend. In addition to jeans, they will also look good under a long dress, even in knit and yes, even with tights, to play it down. If you can take them to work, put them under a pleated skirt, or with cigarette pants and your leather nail.

Shoes for autumn: the boot

Here I have to open a parenthesis, at the cost of being unpopular: the boot, or ankle boot, worn in the figure does not suit everyone. I say so first, that I wear them very little. Just because it reaches the ankle, it tends to draw attention to this part of the body, so I recommend it especially if ankles and calves are your strength. What if you love them but you don't have (like me) spiked ankles, besides using them under the palace pants? If you want to wear them with a skirt, as an alternative to the long one, prefer a model above the knee, if not even mini, and opt for models that have a wide leg, so that air passes between the ankle and the shoe. Optically, the ankle will be thinner. In addition, you prefer low models on the instep and with a string of heels, it only takes a little, to help further thin the leg.

Shoes for autumn: the amphibian

Same as above: unless your legs are your strong point, avoid wearing them with jeans. If you really want to do it, then turn it over to the shoe or prefer a model that has a dry bottom, a skinny for example, and do not tighten the laces too much, on the contrary, leave them half-soft: in this way you will pass air between the leg and the shoe, making the leg look slimmer and thinner. Let's leave the mix with socks and mini (or similar) to high school girls. For me, the amphibian look that I like the most about rock: leather nail, jeans, and white jersey or maxi dress with flowers. Super rock and super easy!

Shoes for autumn: the loafer (or the moccasin)

The light-hearted sisters of the lace-ups. They look great with the same looks, but they also lend themselves to being worn with exposed socks and trousers high on the ankle (if ankles are your strong point). British and classy chic.

And to finish... the slingback

On the catwalks, I saw them worn with socks, but I'm honest: I don't love them very much, I prefer them barefoot. It goes without saying that you can use them right in the middle of the season when it's still not too hot or too cold. But if you're cold, don't disdain them with pants or even jeans!
