Landing Snapdragon

Xev is a Mediterranean plant that loves the sun. So prefer a sunny place, even a penumbra in the hottest regions. It is an ideal plant for dry soils. Thanks to its large flowers it fits well into a massive rock or pot. This perennial plant appreciates dried soils and very well tolerate limestone substrate. Bought in a bucket, the hasty dragon was planted in May for summer flowering. If you prefer to sow, start sowing undercover in March before sowing in May.

Steps to plant Snapdragon or Snapdragon:

1. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball

2. If the soil is a little heavy, mix it with the sand

3. Place a drainage layer on the bottom of the hole (clay balls, gravel)

4. Place the root ball at the bottom so that it is level with the ground.

5. Fill the cavities with the backing

6. Do not add fertilizer or compost,

7. Slight throw

Snapdragon is a frosty plant, which means it does not tolerate frost. Except for warm regions, it is grown as a one-year-old plant.

Maintaining Snapdragon

Keep the humidity low until it blooms. Then water in the evenings only in hot weather. Remove the flowers when they disappear. If your Snapdragon pushes up too much and you want the side stems to grow, you'll have to pinch them, i.e. cut off the tips of the young stems that go up by squeezing them between your thumb and thumb. Index, just. This will allow your Snapdragon to branch out. If you have chosen a variety high, feel free to stop the flowers from sagging.

Blooming lion's yawn

Snappers bloom from May to September. Depending on the variety, it can have several flowers and heights. For example, the Snapdragon Double 'Madame Butterfly' (Antirrhinum majus) reaches 80 cm in height! This variety with several flowers (white, yellow, orange, pink-red) will be ideal in an array. In contrast, the dwarf 'Tom Thumb' (Antirrhinum majus 'Tom Thumb) will not exceed 20 cm. You can also vary several varieties to create flowering stages in an array.

Grow a Snapdragon pot

Xev will grow well in pots. Follow the same steps as when planting in the ground, with a substrate of 80% garden soil (or soil if heavy) and 20% sand. Avoid wind that can damage its large flowers. If you choose varieties higher than 40 cm, think about choosing a deep container! Don't forget to water several times a week in hot weather. The soil in the pot dries faster.

Snapdragon cuttings

You can make cuttings, ideally at the end of the summer. To do this, choose a stem from 10 cm to 15 cm. Hold only a few leaves. Plant it in small balls, a mixture of soil and sand. Store at 20-25°C and in the light. You can plant them next spring!
