Russia and Europe were shocked by the level of Mongolian technology during the invasion of Batu. Like Chinese gunpowder, Mongol siege technology came as a shock to Western civilization, which considered itself the center of the world. In the ugly Mongolian form, the East will once again show how the West is wrong. This Chapter is devoted to the siege art of the Mongols.

Clean-up or death
NASCAR (translated from Arabic “charity”) invented by the Seljuk Empire in the X century. Initially Khazar Seljuk called labor state service such as our subbotniks. Then the people's militia of the Empire became Khazar.

It is interesting that Khazar from those times will come to our days. In Uzbekistan and Tajikistan 2 times a year Khazar (Saturday) allows great budget savings…

The Mongols quickly adopted Khazar when they conquered Korea, the former land of the Seljuk Empire. But Genghis Khan will radically pervert the meaning of Khazar with his logic of absolute cruelty. The Mongol Khazar will be an inhuman technology for us, but a logical assault technology for them. Hangar for the Mongols — the same weapons as com name or RAM. Just gratuitous for the sake of slave labor.

Significant
The value of hangar was undeniable. Without it, the Mongols simply did not begin the assault on the fortified city. So, during the siege of Vladimir Batu waited 2 days in the Northern capital, while Lumen Burundi capture Sunday and drove him out of slaves.

The severity of Khazar's involvement in besieging cities, combined with inhumane treatment, resulted in 100% slave mortality.

That is why the number of hangars and was the maximum, often exceeding the local army of the Mongols. Thus, Project of Korea was besieged by 25,000 Mongols in 1220. And the Khazar of the local population driven by them — already 50 000 slaves...
Like the Mongol army, Khazar was divided into Lumen (10,000 slaves), and those into thousands, hundreds and tens. Starting with thousands, the commanders were Mongols. Below — the commanders of the conquered vassal armies. The expenditure of valuable Mongols in the management of slaves, tells us of its importance.

Hangars three roles
Sahara performed 3 functions.

Ancient engineering techniques.

Bulldozers and construction site in those days was not. They were khashar-children, women, old men and warriors captured immediately. All the earthwork — the digging of the walls, the earthworks and the construction of the siege palisade, the laying of the glades for the Tatars in the Russian forest - all this was done by Khazar.

In a campaign to Russia, Khazar often chased from one city to another. And that did not relax-dragged on itself loads and carts instead of horses and camels. The latter were fed and protected 100 times better than people.

Human shield.

Even heavy Mongolian trenches were beaten at 200 meters, not to mention the Tan gut light stone throwers (more on that next time). And the range of Russian and European arrows on the walls: 300-400 meters. Hangar's slaves were placed in front of the defenders to prevent them from killing the siege teams.

Under heavy rifle fire, Khazar's prisoners were a human shield of storming columns and crawling rams.

The Tartars drove the prisoners under cover-houses like rams made of wood and covered with skins*

The first wave of assault

This barbaric method had the double effect of forcing the defenders to expend their forces and means of defense and losing the will to resist, killing relatives and acquaintances. Here we add the sending of hangar to fill the ditches with firewood, under the fire of archers.

To resist the people, driven to hangar, I could not. The movement was stimulated by whips prior to the zone of attack. And if the prisoners returned without bringing cover to the wall, they were beheaded. So they persevered and finally made a dent.*
Worse than dogs
For all its value, the Mongols treated hangar's slaves 100 times worse than camels. In densely populated Ancient Russia with its thousand cities, Batu was not a problem to quickly replenish the hangars with new villages, cities and churchyards.

The high density of the Russian population allowed the Mongols even to choose the best, taking the lives of all the others. And fed the slaves so that they lived a few days. To death by assault or stone-dragging. How Khazar worked was colorfully described by the Chinese Hun in 1221**:

Whenever they attack the big cities [they] first attack the small towns, capture [the] population, steal [it] and use [the siege work]. Then [they] give the order that every mounted warrior must necessarily capture ten men.

When people [captured] enough, each person is obliged [to collect] some grass or wood, earth or stones. [The Tartars] chase [them] day and night; if [the people] lag behind, they are killed.

When [men] are driven in, [they] fill up the moats [around the city walls with what they have brought] and immediately level [the moats]; [some] are used to maintain [chariots resembling] geese, assault domes, catapult installations and other [works]. [The Tatars] do not spare even tens of thousands of people. Therefore, when storming cities and fortresses [they] are often dead.

In a thousand years, Genghis Khan's enthusiastic disciple, Hitler, will reject all modern humanism and create his own Khazar — concentration camps and slave labor in Germany. And Stalin is a slave Khazar in the Gulag. But, like the master, both will pay for it with the death of their Empire.
