When you have to change the wheel?
In general, in any situation where time allows you, it is recommended to call repairers, specialists, professionals. Do not spare a few hundred rubles - this operation requires quite a lot of time, you can get dirty. But in practice, most car owners, regardless of age and driving experience, can change the spare parts. Every motorist, even if it is a representative of the beautiful half of humanity, should know how to change the rear and front wheels of his car, in case he finds himself in a situation where there will be no way to contact the workshop.
There are a lot of road situations in which the front or rear car wheel will need to be replaced. And they can happen anywhere. So, if you feel that while driving:
- the car has become a strong "pull" to the right or left,
- there's a clear outburst of noise,
- that comes from the front or back wheel,
- the car started wiggling its backward,
All of this is a clear sign that we need to put in a spare part. The wheel is punched and you can't drive it anymore. During the inspection, you will find a puncture in the tire, in more severe cases, for example, if you hit a road roughness, you can get a defect in the wheel itself.
What should be in the car to replace a wheel?
First of all, remember that changing the front wheel is no different from changing the rear wheel. The wheels (rims, rubber) on any car are the same, interchangeable, no matter where they are standing. A mandatory set of young car mechanics includes the following items.
Jack - this tool must be in every car. Spare wheel (spare wheel). It is not possible to drive without a spare wheel, it is a well-known rule. A balloon key for your car. Shoes (stops). At the very least, a pair of stones from the side of the road will do, but an experienced driver carries this useful device in the trunk. It is advisable to have work gloves
Technical aerosol, known among drivers and mechanics as WD-40, will be very useful in all situations. Also in the trunk should be a warning sign, which you put on the road for safety. Whatever the circumstances, you should always follow the safety precautions when changing the rear wheel or front wheel. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the car.
Changing the wheel directly on the road is very dangerous. Always try to roll the car off the road to the side of the road, if present. Start changing the wheel with preparatory operations. After choosing the place of work, turn off the car, then place it on the speed and handbrake. Do not forget to set an emergency sign. It should be at least 20-40 meters behind the car (depending on the rules of the country where you are). Then you need to put your shoes on.
Remember the rule - in any car, near each wheel, there is a special place in which you can install the paw of the jack. Cars without such a place simply do not exist in nature. If there is a suspicion that the jack will fail from the load - put under it something solid and sufficient area. A brick, a sheet of metal and a wooden board are quite suitable. Before you lift the car jack, you need to loosen the nuts. Otherwise, you will simply not be able to unscrew them, as the wheel will spin.
After that, start lifting the machine. When it rises to a sufficient height (it will scroll freely, it is five centimeters), proceed to unscrew the nuts. The nuts on the passenger car wheels unscrew counterclockwise. Remove the wheel with a steady and steady motion. After that, competent and prudent drivers usually immediately put it under the car. This is for insurance purposes, in case the jack falls off. After that, also take your time and carefully put the spare wheel. It is also better to take it out of the trunk and put it next to you. Then you need to tighten the nuts and nuts slightly. Tighten the nuts after lowering the jack of the car.
Important note! In order to make the wheel even, do not lower the machine completely before tightening it. It is enough that the wheel does not twist and the nuts can be tightened, the machine does not have to press the weight on the loose wheel - it will be tilted. Tighten evenly, in staggered order, otherwise, the nuts will tighten with backlash.
Do not forget to collect all the tools, jack, removed wheel with a puncture, a road sign in the trunk. If you do not have anything urgent to do - you need to go to the tire shop, repair the punctured wheel. It will now serve you as a spare, and without a spare, as we all know, you can not go.
